Comic-Con: THE AVENGERS Movie Confirmed; Mark Ruffalo to play Hulk; Whedon to Direct!
The big news of the day at San Diego Comic-Con waited until the last moment of the night during Marvel’s panel. Featuring Captain America and Thor footage, Marvel surprised the audience at the end of the panel with a special announcement.
The lights went dark and on screen came a logo for The Avengers. We heard a voice-over from Samuel L. Jackson narrating the coming together of the elite superheroes. Then Jackson came on stage and introduced his fell0w Avengers: Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America) and of course Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man.
Downey Jr took over the mic and introduced Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye (which was just confirmed earlier today), the new Incredible Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, and finally the director of The Avengers, Joss Whedon! This superstar team all took the stage (in the photo above) and ended the evening on a fantastic note. We don’t know much about when to expect The Avengers movie but we do know Marvel is moving forward with the project. This exciting news ended the night for San Diego Comic-Con and will be the big headline from the 5 day convention which wraps up tomorrow.
