It appears that a fourth installment of Toy Story is possibly “in the works.” It was first reported by Showbiz Tonight, during the premiere of Tom Hanks’ new film Larry Crowne. Hanks was asked about the possible sequel and had this to say:

“I understand it’s happening and if it is, I hope they’ll hire me . . . they have almost every line I’ve ever said in the hard drive up there at Pixar. So they might not need me! I hope they’ll have some unique grunts they’re going to need from me so I can get in there and do it.”

This is an exciting development for anyone who admires this movie franchise. At first glance it seems a little odd that Pixar would continue the story considering Toy Story 3 provided a sense of closure. However, Andy’s toys were given to a new child at the end, leaving open the possibility for another sequel.

It’s also important to point out that Toy Story 3 did outstanding at the box office, which is probably the most important motivating factor. Opening weekend the film earned $110,307,189 (domestically). It has since grossed $635,700,000 worldwide. Obviously Toy Story 4 is a good business decision. What do you think?

Even though Sony’s Spider-man reboot doesn’t hit theaters until summer 2012, the studio is already making plans for a sequel. According to reports from THR, the studio has hired James Vanderbilt, to once again, write the script.Vanderbilt is a talented writer who has worked on scripts for films like The Rundown, Basic, Zodiac, and the upcoming Total Recall reboot. With his script for The Amazing Spider-Man, Vanderbilt has focused on, “a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises.”

Directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) and starring Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) as Peter Parker, The Amazing Spider-Man will arrive in theaters July 3rd 2012. The film has an impressive supporting cast that includes Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.

Hitting theaters next summer in 3D, the production is scheduled to wrap next month. What do you think about a sequel to a film that has not even completed filming? This is a typical Hollywood move and based on the hype for this upcoming project, a sequel is the way to go.

Although Captain America: The First Avenger does not arrive in theaters until July 22nd, Marvel has already hired screenwriters to begin work on Captain America 2. The first teaser trailer aired this past weekend during the Super Bowl and since then the buzz has been huge. The first poster dropped last week, and with a major marketing push in place, Captain America is gearing up to be a big summer movie.

According to Latino Review, Marvel has hired the same writing team behind this summer’s Captain America. Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus were once again tapped to write a script for Captain America 2 which Marvel wants to have in theaters in 2013. No details yet as to what the storyline will be or who will be cast in the sequel. Marvel just better hope that this gamble pays off and audiences make Captain America: The First Avenger a summer blockbuster.

Christopher Nolan has revealed the title for his third Batman film which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2012. The sequel to 2008′s The Dark Knight will be titled, The Dark Knight Rises, and according to Nolan, The Riddler will not be the villain in the film.

It had been rumored for some time now that the main villain for the third Batman movie would be The Riddler, however it looks like that was nothing more than a rumor. There is no word as to what villain will be featured in the new movie, but as soon as we find out we will report it right here.

Nolan confirmed the title for the third Batman movie in an interview with Hero Complex, Nolan spoke about his upcoming project and had this to say:

“We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,” . Nolan also said that the studio has agreed with him not to shoot the film in 3D.

What do you think about the title The Dark Knight Rises? I think it fits well with the story line of where we left off with The Dark Knight, but I would have preferred to see something completely different for a title. Let us know what you think. The Dark Knight Rises will hit theaters July 20th 2012!

The last American Pie movie to be released in theaters was titled American Wedding and was released in August of 2003. Since then there have been four straight to DVD releases which did not feature any of the main cast besides Eugene Levy who is just looking for a paycheck. Speaking of paycheck, Universal wants the original cast back, all of which should be interested seeing how the majority of them are out of work. Besides Sean William Scott and Allison Hannigan – who else from the American Pie movies have continued with an actual career?

Jason Biggs is in movies, here and there, all of which suck. Tara Reid did Playboy. Who knows where Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Shannon Elizabeth, and Mena Suvari have been up to. Sean William Scott can be seen in the upcoming movie Cop Out and Hannigan is a regular on the television series How I Met Your Mother.

I have always been a fan of the American Pie franchise, however I think the movies have ran their course. I mean, come one, the last title was American Wedding. I really have no interest in seeing Jim and Michelle have kids. But, maybe that is just me.

What are your thoughts? Good or bad to bring this franchise back from the dead?

There has been much speculation as to when we will get to see a third Ghostbusters movie. We have been reporting several times this year that the Ghostbusters team has been talking about returning to the big screen for a third film. We are now hearing via multiple news outlets that Harlod Ramis is planning on shooting next year for a possible 2011 release date. Ramis talked with Heeb Magazine and gave us some more insight on what we can expect in the near future. Check out what he had to say after the break.

“Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future … GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 … Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans.”

Hearing this news directly from Harold Ramis is promising. Hopefully we will hear more about GB3 very soon. This sequel is long overdue. The first Ghostbusters hit theaters back in 1984 and the Ghostbusters II arrived in 1989.

Three odd-ball scientists get kicked out of their cushy positions at a university in New York City where they studied the occult. They decide to set up shop in an old firehouse and become Ghostbusters, trapping pesky ghosts, spirits, haunts, and poltergeists for money. They wise-crack their way through the city, and stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, one which will release untold evil upon the city.
Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, the sequel to the cult classic Boondock Saints, will expand its theater count this weekend as the popularity of the film has created a high demand. The film opened in just four markets this past weekend which included Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. Sony Pictures now plans to expand its run on November 13th to multiple cities which will now include San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and more. The film had a strong opening of $500,000 in just four cities with a per screen average of $8,000.

Fans of the Boondock Saints have demanded the film be shown in the cities they live in, thus prompting the studio to expand the screen count. The first Boondock Saints was released in 1999 and developed a huge following. Director Troy Duffy has returned for the sequel along with stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus.

One day their uncle tells them that they have been framed for the murder of a Bostonian Catholic priest. The boys must return to Boston to not only clear their names but find the men who framed them.

Will Smith could be returning as superhero Hancock in a sequel directed by Peter Berg. The first Hancock arrived in theaters the summer of 2008 and made over $200 million domestically. Berg was recently interviewed by SciFiWire where he said the following about the possible sequel: “They like to fast-track it, but Will’s busy, I’m pretty busy… We’re excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don’t feel a burning imperative to go right back into it.” Although Berg is very vague the studio seems to be interested in pursuing this project with Smith once again starring as the titular superhero.

During this interview Berg discussed some possible plot points:

At the end of Hancock it was revealed that Smith’s superhero character is actually an immortal god, who only becomes vulnerable when his companion god (Charlize Theron’s character) is in his presence. Berg has said that, “There might be another god out there… Might be another one.” He also stated that the sequel would continue with the story of Jason Bateman’s character, as he starts his charity campaign. Hancock was not very well received by critics. Fans however enjoyed Smith’s bad attitude, do what I want superhero, and that explains the huge success at the box office.

Smith is a box office god and when a movie makes as much money as Hancock did, a sequel just makes sense. I enjoyed Hancock. It was worth watching mostly for its original concept and the star power of Will Smith. I think a sequel could be good if they can turn out a good script. The first film appeared to be a dis jointed mess but the script sure had potential.

What do you think about a Hancock sequel? Leave your thoughts below.

Before I report anything I just want to say this is another terrible choice to reboot. Mortal Kombat was a popular video game back in the 90′s, the first movie was enjoyable enough for fans, but the second movie was garbage (from what I hear at least, I have no interest in watching it), so why is a third movie necessary? Moviehole.net recently spoke with director Mink (yeah, that’s his name) about this project and he had the following to say:

The status of the film, as of today, is that “…the Producers are working out their deals with the studio and arranging their financing”, says Mink. The director went on to say that this is not really a sequel but more of a re-imagining (that is what most of them say when they want to distance themselves from the previous film).

Todays audience is a savvy involved group so the film must be A plus plus in every area in order to capture the magic of the first film. It is taking the entire concept to the next level across the board in every area visual design, story, cast, FX, photography and most importantly the fighting scenes. The original Mortal Kombat game was born a child of many visual loves by the creators at midway so this latest version borrows heavily from that pioneering spirit and must be thought out and executed at the highest level in order for it succeed in today’s market place. This is no overnight task.”

Apparently they are looking into casting the film and there is no news yet if anyone from the previous films will be returning for a third movie. What do you think about a third Mortal Kombat movie? Comment below.
