A second trailer has hit the net for Karate Kid, the remake starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. While many people may hate the idea of a remake to the original movie The Karate Kid, this definitley has a new spin on the old story. I like how the setting is in China and the martial arts actually appear authentic. While this film may be geared more towards kids, I think it looks like a fun family film that should be a summer hit. Check out the trailer after the jump and leave your comments below.
Back in the 1980’s, the best villains were Soviets. A prolonged Cold War with the USSR kept the world on edge. In 1984, the movie Red Dawn portrayed high school teens who struggle for survival after their small mountain town is invaded by the Reds. Today, Cuba and Russian communism is no longer the credible threat to national security it once was. Since the Red Dawn remake is going to take place in current times, the invading force has now been changed to the Chinese. Politics aside, it seems China would be most likely to put an occupying force on US soil, although the literal reality of such an action could be widely disputed. Pictures are floating at RedDawn2010, where people can upload pictures and news from the set and filming locations. Check out the pictures below.
The more I see from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, the more curious, yet disturbed I become. Only Burton could take this classic tale and make it this dark and twisted. Planet Disney has posted these images which feature Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. The detail that goes into the makeup and costumes of these characters really makes this look awesome. Check out the photos.
We have brought you numerous posts from this movie over the last few months, so here is yet another for you to check out. Although I don’t think this movie looks very good, I know there are many fans of Zombie as well as the Halloween franchise out there, so we will continue to cover this new film. Rob Zombie is the director behind the first remake for Halloween as well as The Devil’s Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses. Zombie has cut another new trailer for his sequel to his horror remake. The movie hits theaters this August. Check it out.
USA Today has published a series of photos from Tim Burton’s upcoming adventure Alice in Wonderland. Starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Burton’s remake of the classic story will hit theaters March of 2010. Mia Wasikowska stars as Alice along with co-stars Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen, Crispin Glover, and Alan Rickmen. We also have some first look photos of Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Check out these pics and leave some feedback in the comment section.
The Stepfather is a horror film that was originally made in 1987 and for some reason is now being made for 2009. The trailer has the typical aspects of a horror film. Creepy music, unsuspecting victims, and a hot chick in a bikini. The film is about a teenager who suspects his new stepfather is a murderer. He doesn’t trust the guy, yet everyone else does. It looks like the usual predictable formula, but that formula is effective. Check out the trailer after the jump.
When I first heard about a remake for Fame I figured it was just another movie on a long list of reboots and remakes. However this trailer makes me think otherwise. Check out this new full length trailer because you will like it. Even if your not a song and dance kinda person you will more than likely appreciate what you see here. For those who don’t know, Fame is a remake of a 1980’s show and movie by the same name. What I think I like about this trailer is the modern approach to the story. It has progressed from being just a movie about singing and dancing. It encompasses all aspects of stage talent. Check it out and tell us what you think on the comment section.
When I first got into the show Lost, a friend told me to check out an old British show that was shortly on in the late 60’s called The Prisoner. AMC had some of the episodes online, and for being as old as it is, I was pleasantly surprised. Now, starting this fall, AMC is bringing the show back in an updated six-part miniseries. Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen are headlining the miniseries, set to begin in November. It tells the story of a spy known only as Number Six who is somehow brought to a mysterious village where others appear to want what he knows.
Just when it seemed nothing else from the 80’s could be remade, news surfaced today that Dan Milano, writer of Robot Chicken on Cartoon Network, was penning a screenplay for a Short Circuit remake. To some, this is a knife in the back of their childhood. To me, I welcome a remake. Short Circuit tells the story of Johnny 5, a military grade robot who develops a conscience and personality of his own.
For those horror fans out there who enjoyed Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, we have good news for you. Zombie is back and directing a sequel titled H2. We have shown you the trailer, the poster, and a first look photo of Michael Myers. Now we have a video clip from the movie due in theaters this August. The clip, as well as the first trailer, have me very underwhelmed for this film. Zombie’s 2007 reboot was mediocre at best, and I can honestly say I am not a fan of his work. However, I know he has a following, so this is for you. Check it out.
We have a new poster today for a movie which doesn’t hit theaters until this holiday season! Jim Carrey stars in Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol. This animated tale of the classic Dickens’ story stars Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge and is being directed by Robert Zemeckis who last brought us his animated tale Beowulf. The movie also stars Gary Oldman, Robing Wright Penn, and Colin Firth. Look for Zemeckis’ retelling of this classic holiday tale to arrive in theaters November 6, 2009. Check out the poster after the jump.

Last week we debuted the first teaser trailer for the remake of the hit 80’s movie Fame. Today we have four teaser posters which are the first to be released. I stated last week that this was an unnecessary remake, and I still stand behind that comment. Hollywood chooses some interesting projects to recreate, and this is one that wasn’t in need of a remake. Nonetheless, we can all get our tap shoes on in anticipation of Fame, as we now have four new posters to enjoy. As apathetic as I am to this movie, fans of the original movie, and of the theater, will enjoy both the trailer, and these colorful new posters we bring you today.

Everyone remember the song and dance movie from the 80’s called Fame? If so, you may be happy to know that Hollywood has decided to remake this movie, and today we have the first teaser trailer for your viewing pleasure. I can honestly say this movie can go into the list of most unnecessary remakes. Hollywood loves to take classic hits and recreate them for a modern audience, but Fame? Really? I haven’t seen this movie in years, but I am sure those who enjoy theater and the arts will be happy to see this. The trailer is everything you would expect – so check it out on the next page.

Joel and Ethan Coen have chosen their next project to direct. The Academy Award winning directors plan to remake the John Wayne western True Grit. The 1969 John Wayne film won the actor an Oscar, and the same could come true for the Coen brothers, who have reunited with No Country for Old Men partner Scott Rudin to produce their new film. True Grit is about a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. marshal and another lawman, tracks her father’s killer in hostile Indian territory. The Paramount film promises to be faithful to the original source material, which was the book by Charles Portis. The original film was also produced by Paramount, and starred John Wayne, Dennis Hopper, and Robert Duvall. The Coen Brothers have a great track record, let’s hope they continue this streak with True Grit.

Variety is reporting that Warner Brothers is planning on bringing the Stephen King novel, It, to the big screen. The book was adapted for a television miniseries in 1990, which was considered to be very frightening for a television horror series. With the success of the horror franchise reboot, Friday the 13th, it seems that the movie studios are jumping on the horror movie bandwagon. There is a sequel to Friday the 13th in the works as well as a reboot of Nightmare on Elm Street. Stephen King’s novels have sometimes been hit or miss when it comes to turning them into movies. Actually, the films which are non-horror based are the quality films for the most part. For example, The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption are incredible films, while Storm of the Century, The TommyKnockers, and Dreamcatcher are terrible movies.

How many Never Ending Stories can Hollywood make? Well they apparently have room for at least one more. The original Never Ending Story was released in 1984 and spawned two sequels as well as a television series. This film based on a German children’s book follows a troubled boy who dives into a wondrous fantasy world through the pages of a mysterious book. The original film was directed by Wolfgang Petersen and the new film is going to be produced by the Kennedy/Marshall Company who produced The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
