Captain America: The First Avenger is shaping up to be a big summer movie hit. At first, there was skepticism around the web about the direction the movie was going to go, mostly based on director Joe Johnston‘s track record with difficulty shooting movies (particularly, The Wolfman). The Superbowl spot was pretty good, a tease of what we’d get in the first trailer that hit theaters. We have posted an awesome throw-back poster last week, and now Yahoo! has debuted a poster that sort of mixes both. It has a classic look, with the flag in the background and the strong pose by star Chris Evans. Hopefully we will be getting a newer, more story-based trailer before the movie hits theaters July 22, 2011. Take a look at the poster below, and let us know what you like about it.

The original Footloose opened in theaters in 1984 and starred Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, and John Lithgow. 26 years later a remake has been made starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, and Dennis Quaid. If you are a fan of the original Footloose than you may enjoy this. For everyone else this movie is just another film where everyone has the skills of a professional dancer for no apparent reason. The first trailer and poster have arrived for the film which hits theaters October 14th 2011.

 
Writer/Director Craig Brewer (“Hustle & Flow,” “Black Snake Moan”) delivers a new take of the beloved 1984 classic film, “Footloose.” Ren MacCormack (played by newcomer Kenny Wormald) is transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years prior, the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and Bomont’s local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and falling in love with the minister’s troubled daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough) in the process.

Today we have this awesome retro Captain America: The First Avenger poster to show you. I wish they would have been doing this brand of marketing from the start. This retro poster features Captain America throwing a punch to the face of Hitler.

If you are a comic book fan, this image may look very familiar to you, as it is quite similar to the very first ‘Captain America’ comic book. Typically, I am not a fan of the floating-head style movie poster, but since this is a throwback poster, the style works perfectly. Even the way the names are listed below the title are unique. This is by far one of the best movie posters I have seen this year. The poster is designed by Paola Rivera and can reportedly be seen this weekend at the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood.

This Holiday season, there will be many reasons to celebrate. If you are someone like me, the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 isn’t going to be one of them. Yes, there’s a big market for the movies, as the first film Twilight grossed almost $200 million domestically and the following films (The Twilight Saga: New Moon & The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) each hit $300 million at the box office. It’s a huge franchise, both in literary sense and film making. I will admit the movies are not my preference, but I’d be a hypocrite if I pretended there aren’t franchises out there I geek out about. So, here we have the first poster for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Summit Entertainment is doing the same thing Warner Bros. did with Harry Potter, splitting the last book into two movies. Sure, they’ll say they don’t want to leave anything out, but I’d say it’s about the money. A lot of people will watch Part 1, and hardly anyone would watch Part 1 without watching Part 2, so they’re going to get a good amount of money at the box office when all is said and done. Fright Night is one of those movies a lot of teens grew up watching in the 80s. It’s a a decent horror movie with a few comedic nods. So, naturally Hollywood remade it. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about it, but there has finally been a poster and trailer released for the upcoming film. I have talked about my skepticism in the past about the movie, but the trailer is actually pretty neat. I am glad to see Colin Farrell doing movies again, other than Horrible Bosses, we haven’t seen him lately. Unfortunately, we don’t get a look at co-star David Tennant, but there’s so cool, creepy feel to the movie. Check out the trailer, courtesy of IGN and poster below. Last week we mentioned a lack of marketing for Warner Brothers’ Green Lantern movie, and now it appears our wishes have been granted as we finally have an official one sheet movie poster for the film. Starring Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, the film is due to arrive in theaters this summer. Up until recently all we had were some teaser posters and one trailer. Over the weekend at WonderCon four minutes from the film were released as well as this fantastic looking poster (via TheDailyBlam)

Directed by Martin Campbell, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett and will hit theaters June 17th.

A new poster featuring Jack Sparrow for the fourth ‘Pirates’ movie has debuted online via IGN. Johnny Depp’s swashbuckling hero will hit the big screen yet again for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which hits theaters on May 20th. Alongside Johnny Depp stars Penelope Cruz, Ian Mcshane, and Geoffrey Rush in a film directed by Rob Marshall. If you haven’t checked out the trailer for the film go and watch it here.

I’m sure On Stranger Tides will follow the previous three films and be a huge hit for Disney. The film will be featured in 3D and IMAX 3D so that will be even more money for the studio.

We were first introduced to Priest last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, and while I was not all that impressed with what I saw, I know the project has a following. Based on a comic book, the movie stars Paul Bettany as a priest who disobeys the order of the church and goes after the vampires who kidnapped his niece. Comingsoon debuted this new poster for the film that arrives in theaters May 13th.

Priest is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, is set in an alternate world — one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church.

When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on a quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.

After taking an in-depth analysis of the newest trailer, Roman and I are both feeling good about the movie. Now, IGN got their hands on two new pieces of marketing; a poster of Thor himself and a character banner. The banner looks cool, but the poster is fantastic. The tones and deep red with the bold words makes the poster pop, standing out from some of the more subtle posters we’ve seen for superhero movies.

Lionsgate has debuted a new motion poster for their Conan the Barbarian reboot that will arrive in 3D this summer. IGN has the official scoop on the poster which features Jason Momoa as the titular character. This motion poster places Conan on top of  a mound of skulls with the clouds moving in the background.

We first reported about Conan last year when we found out that actor Jason Momoa would be playing the character and have since posted some photos released of Momoa in action.
