So, the first Ghost Rider movie was awful. Bad acting, horrible script/story, and the graphics were pretty terrible. However, undaunted by horrible reviews and an unhappy base, Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor wanted to take a crack at it, but only if they did the comic justice. As you may remember, the first look at the film at Comic Con 2011 really impressed us, and now we get the first official trailer, compiled of the footage screened at the convention. The movie is going to really have to impress after the bad taste the first film left in fans’ mouths, but it looks like they’re heading in the right direction. The fire rises in the first teaser trailer for the upcoming superhero movie The Dark Knight Rises. Starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway, the final Batman film wraps up Christopher Nolan‘s series about Gotham City‘s caped crusader. We’ve been very excited about the project, and after seeing it in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, I’m glad it hit the web soon after theaters. Dealing with Bane, Catwoman, and possibly a young Ra’s al Ghul, Batman’s going to have his hands full protecting the city from all manner of evil. I have heard a lot of people complain that the teaser doesn’t reveal a lot about the movie (considering the first half is rehashed footage from the first two I understand) but I think there’s enough in there to make Batman fans like me get their brains working. First, the shot of Gordon in the hospital really gives the impression that the Commissioner is in bad shape. I hope it isn’t something like cancer, because from the conversation he has with the off-screen character (we presume is Bruce Wayne), he makes it sound like there’s a reason he got put in critical condition at the hospital. Second, if it is Bruce Wayne he’s talking to (“We were in this together” sure makes it sound like it is), he might not be in good shape either. As fans know, Bane breaks Batman’s back in a fight and puts him out of commission for a while. The shot, especially from the beginning of the scene with Gordon, looks like he’s sitting down, but with his arm’s raised he could be in a wheelchair. Makes sense why he’d be saying we need Batman back. Third, it seems that Gordon know’s Batman’s identity. Why else would he be talking about needing Batman to some rich billionaire. Last, the shots of Bruce doing push-ups and climbing up a well (looks like the one he fell down as a child) could be Wayne rehabilitating himself to get ready for his showdown with Bane. Just some theories, but who knows, maybe I’m right about something for once.

After being shuffled around a few times, we are finally going to get to see The Thing, a prequel to the 1982 film of the same title. Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton, it tells the story of scientist who make an out-of-this-world discovery in the ice of Antarctica, only to find out the specimen has plans of it’s own. I loved the original film, a classic John Carpenter movie starring a bearded Kurt Russell. The cool thing about the story is that the alien is able to duplicate everything about someone, so it’s almost impossible to discern who is real and who is infected. Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. In the thriller “The Thing,” paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.

Sherlock Holmes is back this December in Guy Ritchie’s sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Robert Downey Jr returns as the classic detective along with his right hand man Watson played once again by Jude Law. Joining the cast for the sequel will be Noomi Repace and Jared Harris as Holmes nemesis Professor Moriarty.

Today we have a full length trailer for the film (via Apple) which includes action, comedy, and some good old fashioned Holmes vs Watson bickering. The first Sherlock Holmes opened in theaters December 2009 and was a huge hit and soon thereafter a sequel was announced. The first film was a fun popcorn flick and not much else. Hopefully this one can be as entertaining.

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room…until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large–Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)–and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.

Well, it looks like IMF agent Ethan Hunt is going to have his hands full saving the world again. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is the fourth film installment in the series adapted from the classic show starring the late and awesome Peter Graves. The original film, directed by the great Brian De Palma, introduced us to Ethan Hunt, a spy working for the Impossible Missions Force. They’re like the CIA, if we didn’t know the CIA existed. Black Ops and espoinage are their game, and they’re the best at it. Of course, a man is only as good as his team, and throughout the first three movies we’ve seen a couple of teammates come and go. The second film, Mission: Impossible II, traded secrets and spying with guns and, well, guns. Of course, John Woo movies typically do that. The third movie, Mission: Impossible III was directed by J.J. Abrams, a good showing to fans who were just discovering his genius.

Now, we’re getting a new movie, supposedly reinvigorating the series, and some have speculated co-star Jeremy Renner will be taking over the starring role in future installments. Hopefully Ethan Hunt isn’t killed off in the movie, but with both Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams having worked on the story, I’m sure we’ll be in for a few surprises. Let’s not forget that along with Cruise and Renner we also get Simon Pegg, Tom Wilkinson, Josh Holloway and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Michael Nyqvist. This is the end of an era. Whether you are someone who has read the books, seen the movies, both or neither, there’s something to be said about when a series ends. It’s been 10 years since movie audiences were introduced to Harry Potter, the unassuming child living underneath the staircase of his uncle’s house. Over the years, I’ve been excited to see the trailers as they come out, always looking forward to the next one. However, this is the last one. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is battling into theaters July 15, and will probably shatter box office records. Attack the Block took the SXSW Film Festival by storm, getting a lot of fan buzz and critical praise. In an attempt to continue to build buzz and get more word of mouth, the movie has been screening in major markets for the past few weeks. I got a chance to check it out, and really enjoyed it’s humor and originality. The movie is still a mystery to most, so if you want a good look at the movie, check out the red band trailer below. Of course, being a red band trailer, it does have some gore and language, but highlights some good parts of the movie. Attack the Block is going to be expanding to more US theaters July 29, 2011.

If you are  fan of Hanks and Roberts I am sure you will enjoy the sweet nature of this romantic comedy. I am not completely sold yet – and I am both a fan of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. The characters in the film appear endearing and sincere, but I expect big results from veteran actors such as these two.

Underwater on his mortgage and unclear on what to do with his suddenly free days, Larry heads to his local college to start over. There he becomes part of a colorful community of outcasts, also-rans and the overlooked all trying to find a better future for themselves…often moving around town in a herd of scooters. In his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes Tainot (Roberts), who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.

The simple guy who has every reason to think his life has stalled will come to learn an unexpected lesson: when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might discover your reason to live.

Finally, the awesome David Tennant makes his footage debut in the brand new trailer for the upcoming vampire remake Fright Night. Tennant, a cult favorite to many as a former Doctor on the British show Doctor Who, is playing a very different character than his counterpart in the original film. Peter Vincent, in the 1985 film, was a late night monster movie TV show host. The character seeks him out thinking he’s had dealings with real bloodsuckers, which of course he hasn’t. In the new film, Vincent is more of a Criss Angel-esque entertainer. He will no doubt look like an awesome and mysterious figure who is at heart a bit of a coward and not ready to take on anything real. It’s here, Twilight fans: the first official trailer for the next installment of The Twilight Saga. Titled The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I, the anticipated feature is already generating a lot of buzz. As anyone who has read the series, and they’ll probably explain that the fourth and final book would be a hard movie to make. There’s a few spoilers I could go into, but since I have no first hand knowledge about the source material, I’ll leave that up for fans to debate. Summit Entertainment is following in the footsteps of Harry Potter, splitting the last book into two features. It’s smart financially, and they’ll give some excuse like that they didn’t want to have to leave any details out. However, fans might lose their cool when they find out how long they have to wait to see the final installment. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I hits theaters November 18, 2011, but the second and final movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II, comes out November 16, 2012. That’s a long wait for the other half of the story. Regardless, watch the trailer below, and let us know if you think this is going to be any good.
