Saturday afternoon we attended the panel for director Matt Reeve’s Let Me In, which is a re-make of the Swedish film Let the Right One In. Reeve’s spoke with enthusiasm about his re-make, showed the audience new footage, and today we have a new full length trailer (via MTV) for you to check out. I am very impressed with Cloverfield director Matt Reeves. His interpretation of the source materials is accurate and authentic to the original film. Let the Right One In is a critically acclaimed film from 2008, so re-making it for American audiences could have been challenging, but after seeing footage, and this latest trailer, I think Matt Reeves has embraced that challenge.

An alienated 12-year-old boy befriends a mysterious young newcomer in his small New Mexico town, and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood in Let Me In a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield.)

Twelve-year-old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owen’s age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.

When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby’s father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. Still, she repeatedly rebuffs Owen’s efforts to help her and her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she’s hiding an unthinkable secret.

The gifted cast of Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness in an astonishing coming-of-age story based on the best-selling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma In (Let the Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist, and the highly-acclaimed film of the same name.

The other day at work, I was lamenting about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s movie career. Honestly, as he moved away from his professional wrestling career and more into film, I thought he could eventually make it up to some of the big names in action. Who knows, maybe in 20 years he could do a sequel to The Expendables with a new generation of action stars. But getting involved in too many poor roles, like Planet 51 and The Tooth Fairy, have warped audiences perception of someone who can do comedy one minute (Get Smart) and the next minute bust skulls (The Rundown). I hope with Faster Dwayne Johnson can swing back into knocking teeth out. Check out the trailer for his new action-packed flick below.

The first trailer for director Ben Affleck’s The Town has been released. You can watch the trailer this weekend if you are watching Inception. This is Affleck’s second film as a director. His directorial debut being 2007′s Gone Baby Gone, an incredible film, that is very underrated. In The Town, Affleck is also leading a cast which includes John Hamm, Chris Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Blake Lively. Set in Boston (as was Gone Baby Gone), The Town revolves around a group of bank robbers who are looking for their next job, while one of the thieves (Affleck) has feelings for a bank manger who was a former target. The Town is based on the novel The Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan. The movie is presenting itself as an intense dramatic thriller that looks like it will deliver. I think I can speak for most of us when I say, Ben Affleck the director, may be better than Ben Affleck the actor. Watch the trailer and read the full plot synopsis below.

A full length trailer (via Yahoo) for director David Fincher’s Facebook inspired movie The Social Network has arrived. Starring Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, The Social Network is about the rise of the social media giant and the legal battle that ensued. Written by Aaron Sorkin ( A Few Good Men, The West Wing) The Social Network hits theaters this fall. Check out the full length trailer below.

As I talked about in our last episode of The Z Cast, one of the best vampire movies of all time is the 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In. If you haven’t seen it, I would absolutely recommend checking it out if you love vampire/thriller movies. Immediately after its release, American studios were looking to adapt the story and named it Let Me In. Cloverfield director Matt Reeves wanted to keep his adaptation as close as possible to the original film while also making it his own. From the looks of it, Reeves hasn’t tried to fix what isn’t broken. The trailer for Let Me In looks fantastic and you can check it out below.

I’ve had six ex-girlfriends, and since most of them are evil, I think it’d be awesome for my girlfriend to have to fight them. SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD tells the story of a hapless young man who falls in love with a girl bringing some baggage with her. The baggage isn’t emotional, it’s seven evil exes that Scott has to defeat to be with the one he loves. Based on the comic book of the same name and drawing on the hilarious and visually stunning artistic look of the story, SCOTT PILGRIM is quickly shaping up to be one of the year’s most anticipated films. I really like Will Ferrell, but I will be the first to admit his movies lately have been some of his worst. Critically and financially, Land of the Lost, Step Brothers, and Semi-Pro have been some big letdowns. I’ve always thought he does his best when he gets to play of the comedy of other actors, like he did in Anchorman. Hopefully, THE OTHER GUYS will be his shot to redeem his comedic talent. Starring with Ferrell are Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson and Eva Mendes, THE OTHER GUYS is shaping up to be the return of the buddy cop action flick. A second trailer for Joe Carnahan’s adaptation of The A-Team has been released by 20th Century Fox. We saw the first trailer back in January and now we have the second full length trailer for you to check out today. In this new trailer we learn more about who the characters are, where they came from, and why they are being assembled as an elite team. This movie is going to be action packed, as well as funny with a cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. This movie hits theaters on June 11th. A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.

A new full length trailer has hit the net (via IMDB) for the action comedy Knight and Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. In the film, Cruise plays a former government spy on the run from his previous employer, and in the midst of chaos he meets June (Diaz) who he becomes smitten with, and then must ultimately protect. Knight and Day looks like a great date movie that men and women will both enjoy. Both Cruise and Diaz are a perfect match for there roles, as Cruise has the chemistry, and Diaz the frantic damsel in distress act to carry this movie. You have never seen a “boy meets girl” movie like this before! Michael Cera plays Scott Pilgrim, an unassuming and quiet bassist for a small garage band who meets the woman of his dreams. She’s everything Scott has wanted, but there’s a catch: her ex-lovers are psychos he must defeat to be with her. Based on the American comic of the same name, SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD is filled with over-the-top action and visuals, taking nods from Japanese manga and even some arcade-style video games, Scott will undoubtedly have his hands full defeating his way to Ramona Flowers’ heart. SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans and Anna Kendrick. Look for it to beat its way into theaters August 13, 2010. I never read the story, but the trailer is so ridiculous and Michel Cera knows he is Hollywood’s go-to weenie kid right now, so I’m sold. Is anyone else interested in the movie?
