For those fans of the Transformer’s franchise this news is for you. It is being reported that Michael Bay will begin filming his third Transformers movie this May. The scheduled release for Transformers 3 is July 1st 2011 which will, once again, be a huge fourth of July weekend for the franchise. There is no word as of yet to what the story will be about in this third installment, but I can guarantee there will be a lot of robot fighting. This news is coming from Deadline Hollywood (via Collider) who reports that Shia LaBeouf is to report to the set of Transformers 3 in May. Keep reading for more on this.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is continuing it’s box office domination as the film took in another $28.6 million on Thursday. After two days of release the blockbuster sequel has already made $89.2 million. We still have three more days left for its opening weekend numbers and at the pace it is going I would expect another $75 – 80 million Friday – Sunday. That would put the film in the range of $164 – $170 million for the first five days of release. It would be right around the five days openings of Spider Man 3 ( $169.4M) and Star Wars Episode III ( $172.8M). Have you seen Transformers 2 yet? Yesterday I gave you my box office predictions for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The blockbuster sequel opened yesterday with $16 million in ticket sales from midnight showings and after a full day of release the Michael Bay directed sequel broke the Wednesday release record with $60 million on opening day. That is about $16 million more than the previous record holder which was Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix which opened with $44 million in 2007. It was reported earlier this morning that Revenge of the Fallen had took in $55 million, but now Variety has raised that number to an even more impressive $60 million. As a reminder, The Dark Knight took in $67.2 million opening day last summer, so Transformers 2 is not too far behind that. Check back with us as we track the box office for Transformers 2 all week long.
When you watch a movie like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen you have to almost forget about being critical and do your best to submerge yourself in the fanboy lust that Michael Bay has thrown on that screen. This is not a movie about complex characters, intricate plot details, or even a coherent story. Instead, this movie, as well as the original, is about one thing and one thing only: giant robots that fight each other. Once you realize that there will be no story, no likable characters, not a sense of continuity, you may be able to enjoy this film. Before I continue any further let me say one thing. If you thought the first movie was the best thing ever made, you are soon to have a new favorite film to put on your all time favorite list, next to Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mummy movies.
A new international poster for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has been released via Empire Magazine. The poster is different from the U.S versions which we have been seeing recently. It is more of an action poster which features Optimus Prime and Bumblee in an action pose, while Sam and Mikeala are running below. I think this poster looks much more cartoonish than the other ones released. I haven’t really been a fan of the posters I have seen. The trailer for the film looks fantastic but the posters just don’t excite me. But you should judge for yourself. Check it out and leave us your feedback.
MTV has released this exclusive photo of The Fallen from the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. We have continually heard about this new robot, but have yet to see him in action. In an interview with MTV News Transformers star Shia LaBeouf talked about the movie and the new guy pictured above. “Basically, the Fallen is to them what cavemen, Neanderthals were to us,” LaBeouf revealed. “He’s the ancestor, the first version of this exoskeleton. He’s the first version of this sentient being. That’s what he is. He’s the origins of what they came from.” “The Fallen, his transportation method is really unlike any other robot’s transportation method,” he added. “The way he fights is also very different. It’s spectacular, visually stunning, really incredible.” Check out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in theaters June 24th!
From Director Michael Bay we get three new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen TV spots. Some of the footage we have already seen but there is some new stuff too. Looks like we get to see the Constructicons start to assemble, some wicked action scenes, and some new shots of Optimus Prime. I am not a big fan of the franchise thus far, but all of the footage that we have been able to see looks amazing. Watch all three TV spots after the jump.
Gearing up for the release for what is sure to be the biggest blockbuster this summer, Yahoo and Michael Bay have released these new photos from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Due in theaters June 24th these promo photos feature the cast in various scenes. Check out the photos after the jump and tell us what you think.
It has arrived! Just last week I commented that we had yet to see the final poster for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and now, courtesy of Yahoo, we have it for you to see. The poster features Optimus and Bumblebee; as well as Shia and Megan. I was hoping for something more with the poster, but this is what we got. I am curious to the significance of the pyramid because it has been very prominent in the footage and images we have seen. Go check out the full poster after the jump and tell us what you think.
If the new Transformers 2 trailer that debuted last week wasn’t enough for you, today we have three new robot posters to bring you! It is nice to see some more posters for what is easily becoming the most anticipated movie of summer! We have yet to see the official poster for the movie. So far there has been the teaser poster featuring the face of megatron and now these robot posters. I would assume in the next couple weeks we can expect the final poster since the movie is due in theaters on June 24th. Transformers fans, your time has come. Although trailers can be deceptively edited and misleading, this new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer is stunning to say the least. If the trailer is any indication of what we’re in store for on June 24th, this summer will truly be epic. The trailer gives much more insight into the story line for the movie. Sam is moving on to college, and not long after arriving, a piece of the cube begins to affect his mind. With the return of Megatron and more Decepticons, humanity finds itself in the cross-hair of a war. Continue reading to check out this new trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!

As fans of Transformers anxiously wait for this movie to hit theaters, we have something that will definitely brighten your day! Michael Bay has released footage from his ShoWest presentation that he held last month in Las Vegas. This footage shows an extended scene with Sam, Mikaela, and Bumblebee, where the giant yellow Camaro/Autobot cries after hearing Sam will be leaving him for college. This scene is campy, but how else can a movie where robots talk, and can transform into cars really be? If the beginning segment doesn’t do it for you then keep watching as there is a montage where we get to see the Decepticons and lots of disaster. This is a must see video. Steven Spielberg, the executive producer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, recently screened director Michael Bay’s new film and his response to the movie was very positive. Spielberg sat with Bay in a screening of the director’s cut thus far, and when the credits rolled, he responded by saying the movie was “Awesome.” We have also learned that the new trailer for the movie will be on X-Men Origins: Wolverine on May 1st. Fans of Transformers have reason to rejoice: Michael Bay says Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is going to be 147 in length. I know a lot of fanboys hate Michael Bay, but as a newcomer to the franchise, I think the first film was a pretty good movie. Not enough action and a bit too much “coming of age” storyline, but from the looks of the sequel, we’re going to get a lot more robot action. The first Transformers ran 144 minutes, so the new runtime is only a few minutes more. However, I’d rather see more then less, especially considering the potential the franchise has. Sources indicate there will be between 40-60 robots in the film. Reflect on that for a moment. So is this good news to Transformers fans? Is more robots and longer runtime better for the franchise?

Yesterday we reported that Transformers 3 would see a release date of July 1, 2011. Now that news looks to be incorrect, or at least, very presumptuous. Transformer’s director Michael Bay is refuting the news that Paramount and Dreamworks stated just yesterday. On his official website, Bay states, ” Wait a minute! I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.” If MIchael Bay is stating that a 2011 release date is not going to happen – I wonder how the studios feel about it?

Get ready for more giant #!%@ robots! Michael Bay’s special effects spectacle, Transformers, will have a third film out the summer of 2011. To be more specific, the third Transformers will be released July 1, 2011. Paramount and Dreamworks warned Variety that this is not an official statement that there will be a Transformers 3, but instead, the studios have their stake on this date. I like how the studio wants to remain vauge, yet still specific. I don’t find the idea of a Transformers 3 to be that surprising. The first film made over $300 million and the sequel due this summer will most likely be the movie to beat this year. The summer of 2011 is looking very impressive with Spider Man 4, the final Harry Potter, and Marvel’s Thor being released as well. Until then check out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in theaters June 24, 2009!
