Stephanie Hans provides us with this awesome variant cover for the BLACK WIDOW issue 2. This has such a great James Bond-ish feel to it and really lets you know that this is a super spy comic. The image of her in the gun is just amazing. With IRON MAN 2 in theaters now Black Widow is getting more and more love from fans. Hans has some great stuff coming up from Marvel. In the future, I’m pretty sure we will be seeing her again in our COW column.

Industrialist/ Superhero Tony Stark returns in the action packed summer blockbuster IRON MAN 2. Tony Stark is viewed by many as a force for peace in the world with his Iron Man armor. The US Government demands that he give over the technology, but as you may recall, Tony is out of the weapons making business. Severe changes in Tony’s personal and professional life cause him to make some radical choices including making long time assistant Pepper Potts (Gwenyth Paltrow) the new CEO of Stark Industries.  With the pleasant surprise that the first IRON MAN film was could this one top it?

IRON MAN 2 has landed and I think that we can all agree that we needed it. It’s a rare thing when a sequel is as good as the first film, but with comic book movies that has been the case. X2, SPIDER-MAN 2 and THE DARK KNIGHT can attest to that fact, however, IRON MAN 2 didn’t fit that bill for me. First off, the film is a lot of fun and I wont deny that. I just felt that the story was a bit messy. The film tries to do a lot in its two hour run time and it seemed like they wanted to cram as much in that time as possible. It just wasn’t a very cohesive story line. I really liked the majority of the stuff that we saw, but we needed to spend a little more time on some of the plot and characters. The cast is so big that you could easily forget that a star like Mickey Rourke (Ivan Vanko, Whiplash) was even in the picture.

When you have Don Cheadle (James Rhodes, War Machine) and Scarlett Johansson (Natalie Rushman, Black Widow) mixed in the cast that we have already listed it becomes hard because you want to see more of each of them. I do think that the screen time that each character had was well spent, but right when you got used to that person we were off to the next character. I really enjoyed Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer in the movie. He felt like that rich kid you knew as a child who didn’t know how to be anything but rich. The dynamic of seeing Stark and Hammer together was fun. It’s like Hammer has all of this money, but all he wants is to have the respect that Stark has. And Stark makes sure that Hammer knows that he doesn’t command that respect.  Hammer is just awkward enough that you feel bad for him and just a jerk enough that you don’t like him. I am sad to say that I felt that Rourke was severely under used. Being promoted as the main villain I expected way more from him. When he is on screen he is great, but it was like he was there, then gone, then he was back at the end. I think that might be the ultimate fate of most super villain’s in film is that they are never used as much as you would like.

The CGI and the action in this movie was epic. That was the only thing about IRON MAN 2 that was better than the first. There are times when Downey Jr. is in the plastic version of the armor and then it goes to the CGI and it is so seem less. There is a fight with Iron Man, War Machine and the “Hammer-Droids” that I thought was pretty spectacular. Some people I spoke with felt like the end battle was lacking, but it is pretty much what I expected. The Black Widow has some really good physical stuff in the film that was so well choreographed I could watch it again and again. She was like a sexy Mexican wrestler.

There are a few reasons that the story was a little weak in the film. They could be saving some great stuff for a third film or even for THE AVENGERS movie. Either way, if you liked the first film I believe that you will like the second, I just wouldn’t expect it to blow you away as much as the first. It’s a solid summer movie epic that’s for sure and we are eager to hear your thoughts. Post comments below.

With just a little over two weeks before it arrives, we have a couple new posters for Iron Man 2. Both are IMAX posters which hit the net this morning. Comingsoon had the first poster (via Paramount) which features the Iron Man armor and the IMAX logo. The second poster was an exclusive for Screen Rant which features Mickey Rourke’s villain Whiplash. If for some reason you didn’t already know Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7th. After confessing his identity as Iron Man to the world, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) comes under fire from the United States Government who demand he hand over the powerful weapon that is the Iron Man suit. As the Government attempts to create a duplicate suit with the assistance of Stark’s rival, Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), Tony’s long time friend Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle) is put center stage in the conflict. Meanwhile, a mysterious and dangerous foe emerges in Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), who creates an alternate and powerful persona known as Whiplash in order to exact revenge on the Stark family once and for all… it isn’t long before he unites with Hammer in an effort to destroy Iron Man. With the arrival of his shady new assistant (Scarlett Johansson), and persistent recruitment attempts from S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Stark needs all the help he can get in order to overcome the obstacles.

It’s a great feeling to be just about a month away from the release of IRON MAN 2. The only better feeling will be to actually watch the film. Fortunately, we have TWO NEW clips for fanboyz everywhere to calm the shakes. Sit back and relax as we get to see a little more of the sequel that will knock our socks off.

A new Iron Man 2 poster has surfaced online and it features the beautiful Scarlett Johansson as the character Black Widow. This poster is a Wondercon exclusive so if you are at that annual convention in San Francisco this weekend you can pick one of these posters up for yourself. Early we posted the latest poster featuring the entire cast, but this teaser poster blows that one away. Check out the full poster after the break.

A new official poster for Iron Man 2 has debuted via Myspace. The poster features the entire cast with one notable exception missing: Mickey Rourke. I guess they couldn’t find a spot for him on this poster which features the typical floating head image of the main cast. Above the actors are the Iron Man and War Machine suits which really don’t add much to this poster. It is similar to the poster for the first Iron Man which was very generic and lacked anything original. I have very much enjoyed the teaser posters up to this point. The final cast poster could have been a little better. Check out the full poster after the break and get ready for Iron Man 2 on May 7th!

Yay! A new clip has showed itself online for the highly anticipated IRON MAN 2. This TV spot debuted at the Kid’s Choice Awards on Nickelodeon and shows us a few new scenes that we have not witnessed before. For a short clip, it added some more humor, action and robots that I needed to fully enjoy all that is Iron Man. Unfortunately, the questions that I had been asking myself about Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow were answered and I am not the happiest, but I will get past them and love this movie any way.

Apple has released two new character posters for Iron Man 2 as well as a photo of the theatrical standee for the film. The character posters feature Iron Man and War Machine and the standee features both characters. Yesterday we were treated to the amazing second trailer for Marvel’s Iron Man 2 and I expect to see even more before this movie hits theaters on May 7th. Check out these images after the break.

After the Academy Awards tonight, the second trailer for Iron Man 2 was revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live by guest Robert Downey Jr. The new trailer showcases even more badass action than the first trailer we saw back in December. Director Jon Favreau has another huge blockbuster on his hands as we all eagerly await its arrival on May 7th. The new trailer features even more of what we want to see! More of Tony Stark in the Iron Man suit. A great scene between Mickey Rourke’s Whiplash and Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer – and even more! This trailer is freakin’ awesome. Go watch it now!
