A great return to the zombie movie, 28 Days Later showed audiences the terrifying nature of the creatures. Directed by Slumdog Millionaire’s Danny Boyle, 28 Days Later tells the story of a confused recently awakened coma patient, finding London void of the living and riddled with the undead. The gritty urban desolation and rage infested zombies make 28 Days Later a truly authentic and visceral horror movie. Cillian Murphy, who went on to portray Dr. Crane/Scarecrow in Batman Begins, does an excellent job as the terrified patient wondering deserted England looking for survivors.
If Jennifer’s Body is the direction that horror movies are headed then we may all be damned. After last week’s dismal Sorority Row I had higher expectations for a film that was written by Juno scribe Diablo Cody. I think those expectations may have been too high since Cody’s departure to horror is met with Juno like dialogue; but instead of the lovable Ellen Page, we are stuck with Megan Fox. The Transformers star is fun to look at but that novelty wears thin after two hours of her basically teasing the boys on screen, as well as those in the audience. Jennifer’s Body had potential to be a campy horror film, with a dose of light comedy, but instead it was never able to focus on what it wanted to be.
At this years Telluride Film Festival a low budget horror film called Paranormal Activity debuted. The film was made for $11,000 and features a cast of unknown actors who filmed the movie in one week. Right away the comparisons to The Blair Witch Project began. Sure, this is another low budget horror movie but the similarities end at that concept. This trailer has begun gaining buzz on the net as horror fans are eagerly awaiting the next Blair Witch Project. Paranormal Activity follows a couple who move into a new house that they believe to be haunted. They become more suspicious and frightened as several disturbing experiences occur. Paramount will release this film on a limited basis beginning September 25th. Check out this must see trailer.
Michael Myers returns in Rob Zombies latest film Halloween II. Stabbing and slashing his way to get back to his sister Laurie, Michael turns her town into a blood bath again. Laurie still struggles with the events that changed her life last Halloween and this years October 31st looks to be more trick than treat.

As another Halloween approaches we can be sure to expect Lionsgate will have a new Saw movie for audiences to check out. This year marks the sixth anniversary of the franchise which began in 2004 and has become a staple of pop culture. This October Sav VI will arrive in theaters with even more twisted games and unique methods of killing victims. The first teaser trailer for Saw VI has been released and while it doesn’t really introuduce us to anything new, it serves as a reminder that the horror franchise will be returning yet again. There are rumors that Lionsgate will make eight films, but I could see this franchise going even longer than that. As long as people are buying tickets the studio will continue to make the films. Check out the teaser trailer after the jump.
The Saw franchise has become a routine every Halloween in theaters across the country. The week before Halloween a new Saw flick is released. This October will see the release of sixth installment in the popular horror franchise. Since October is quickly approaching (summer has really flown by fast, huh?) the studio has debuted the first poster for the movie. This is different than normal posters as it is an animated image which creates the one-sheet through motion. It is not all that appealing. It isn’t bad, but it is not impressive as past posters have been. There really is no sense in describing it. Check it out for yourself after the jump.
Earlier this week we brought you a red band trailer for the new Megan Fox horror movie Jennifer’s Body. The film has been written by Juno scribe Diablo Cody. Her horror/ comedy mix is clever and looks like it may be a fun movie to watch. The film stars Megan Fox, a high school cheerleader who becomes possessed by a demon. She then begins to kill the boys she goes to school with. If you like Megan Fox this is the poster for you. Check it out after the break.
Megan Fox has a new movie (that doesn’t have giant robots in it) called Jennifer’s Body and we have a first look at the red band trailer for the film due out September 18th. The movie was written by Diablo Cody (Juno) and also stars Amanda Seyfried ( Mean Girls) in a horror movie about a high school cheerleader who becomes possessed by the devil. The red band trailer is a violent, sex filled, horror/comedy that hits some good notes. Check this one out and tell us what you think.
The first trailer for a new vampire flick called Daybreakers has hit the net. The film stars Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe and is set in the future in 2019 when a plague turns the world’s population into vampires. The human population is facing extinction due to the vampires overtaking the world. However, one group of covert vampires have learned that one of them could be the savior for humanity. This trailer looks awesome. I love the style of the camera work and the music really makes this film look creepy. Check this one out and tell us what you think.
The Stepfather is a horror film that was originally made in 1987 and for some reason is now being made for 2009. The trailer has the typical aspects of a horror film. Creepy music, unsuspecting victims, and a hot chick in a bikini. The film is about a teenager who suspects his new stepfather is a murderer. He doesn’t trust the guy, yet everyone else does. It looks like the usual predictable formula, but that formula is effective. Check out the trailer after the jump.
Rob Zombie’s venture into directing has not been very lucrative. To be blunt: his movies suck. So, it is only fitting that this new trailer for the sequel to Zombie’s 2007 Halloween remake looks pretty bad. His remake of Halloween wasn’t that great, however it was a million times better than any of his previous work. His sequel to Halloween is titled H2 and appears to pick up where the last one left off. This trailer doesn’t really impress me, but I am not a Rob Zombie fan, nor have I ever really got into the Halloween franchise. But for those of you who like a gory slasher film. This may be the perfect fit for you. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think.

We usually hear about comic books being made into movies, but now a popular movie will become a comic book series. The zombie horror-thriller film 28 Days Later and it’s sequel 28 Weeks Later are being developed into a comic book series by Boom Studios and Fox Atomic. The comic book series will supposedly bridge the gap between the first film and it’s sequel. The first issues will hit stores this July, and the story will focus primarily on the events from 28 Days Later. This could be a very successful series if it is anything like the movies. I thought these are the best zombie movies I have ever seen, and the if the comic book can capture the intensity of the movie, than this will be a good read. This does not come as any big surprise. New Line and Platinum Dunes will be moving forward with a sequel to this month’s Friday the 13th. The horror film was a huge hit. It opened with $40 million and has grossed $57 million over the last three weeks. So why not make a sequel? If the formula works, you may as well run it until it loses it appeal. Just look at the Saw movies. We can expect Saw VI this Halloween because those films still make tons of cash in their opening weekend. Not that anyone who watches these films require a plot, but The Hollywood Reporter is noting that this is not necessarily a sequel, but instead, a follow-up to where the last one left off. So I guess that means more stupid teenagers getting high, having sex, and getting killed. Sounds pretty routine to me. Did anyone enjoy this latest installment of the horror franchise?

Oh the horror. Jason Voorhees slaughtered the competition this holiday weekend to take the top spot at the box office. Over the four day weekend Friday the 13th was a successful reboot of the horror movie franchise. With a killer Friday opening of $19 million this film had a good start. Saturday was Valentines Day and today we observed President’s Day which helped Hollywood see the biggest President’s Day weekend in history. Not only was Friday the 13th a huge success but last weeks holdover He’s Just Not That Into You saw a small decline. With three new releases Friday the 13th was the only major contender. Want to know what the final box office report looks like? Continue reading to check out the top of the box office.

I recommend everyone check out this trailer for what could be a good horror movie. The Last House on the Left is written by Wes Craven (Scream) who wrote and directed the original film from 1972. The premise of this film appears to be pretty routine from the start, but as the trailer moves along you realize this story could have some interesting twists. The big reason I really enjoyed this trailer was because of the music. Watch it and you should agree that the music makes this very disturbing. It is the creepiest version of Sweet Child of Mine I have ever heard. Continue Reading to check out the trailer for this new film.

When I was a child I remember being terrified by the thought of a masked madman coming to decapitate me with a big machete. This fear, of course, was brought on by the movie franchise, Friday the 13th. I remember, right after watching one of the films, being in my bed and imagining that Jason would break down my bedroom door and something unpleasant would happen shortly after. I always thought if this guy was real than there was nothing I could do to stop him. I grew up, however, and the films became nothing more than entertaining.
Hollywood continues to let former rocker Rob Zombie make movies. He is back once again with a sequel to his surprisingly successful reboot of the Halloween franchise. Zombie is the director of such classic fare like The Devil’s Rejects and House of a 1000 Corpses. When I say classic I mean garbage. Actually the 2007, Halloween, is by far Zombie’s best film. Scary, I know. I wanted to bring you this poster for two reasons. 1.) I think Zombie’s take on Halloween was not completely terrible, and 2.) This is a pretty cool teaser poster. Check out the next page to see the full poster.
