More times than not a red band trailer is no better than the regular green band. This red band trailer for the new comedy 30 Minutes or Less defies that rule and is absolutely hilarious. The movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBribe, Nick Swardson, and Aziz Ansari and is from Zombieland director Ruben Fleishcer. This looks like one of the better comedies hitting theaters this summer. Eisenberg plays a stoned pizza delivery boy who is forced to rob a bank for two losers (McBride and Swardson) or the bomb they have attached to him will detonate. Sounds like the premise to an action film, but instead is played for laughs – which I think works much better.

In the action-comedy 30 Minutes or Less, Nick (Jesse Eisenberg) is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wanna-be criminal masterminds (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson). The volatile duo kidnaps Nick and forces him to rob a bank. With mere hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari). As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship.

Universal has a big summer hit with the raunchy comedy Bridesmaids which just crossed the $100 million mark at the U.S box office. Deadline is now reporting that the team behind Bridesmaids will be joining forces once again for a new comedy that they just pitched to the studio. Paul Feig will reportedly write and direct the film with Judd Apatow producing, however we don’t have a plot synopsis at this time. All we know is that the film is being called, “an unconventional love story,” which is pretty open-ended as far as plot details go.

Apatow and Feig first worked together on the critically acclaimed television series Freak and Geeks. Based on the success of Bridesmaids, this new movie should be in the works very soon. We will keep you posted on more details when they arrive.

A movie like Attack the Block is hard to describe as being in one genre. On one hand, it’s a comedy about inner city British youth. On the other, it’s an action movie about an alien invasion. When the movie begins, it jumps right into a group of London kids mugging an innocent woman. The kids act tough and pull a knife, but as they’re committing their crime, something hits a car on the street. Something from the sky. After the kid’s leader, Moses, investigates, he ends up being attacked by a strange creature. Toting it around their block, they take it back to their apartment building. As more creatures begin falling from the sky, the teens decide to take on the aliens themselves, protecting their block.

There’s something about British accents that always throws me off. Granted, every nation has all sorts of dialects and manners of speech, but when people talk English English, I have a hard time following what they’re saying. I remember hearing about how some people thought the movie should have subtitles, but it’s not too difficult to follow what they’re saying. Each of the kids is sort of their own unique person, with some being brave, others timid and one standing tall as their leader. One thing that really works for the movie is how they don’t feel like they can tell the authorities about what’s happening. If kids with criminal backgrounds told cops about what was happening, they’d just ignore their complaints and arrest them for whatever they could pin on them. The kids peddle small drugs from a grower in their building, where we see the awesome Ron (Nick Frost). He answers to a tough gangster, who obviously the kid’s cross and have to worry about too.

The movie was made on a small budget, at least, small for a movie about an alien invasion. The first alien they come across, which we find out to be a small female that’s used to lure the larger, angrier males, is shown in quick shots. The kids lug it around back to their homes, which ends up luring the aliens to their apartment complex. The small female was made as a puppet, but the other aliens are CGI. They’re completely black, only showing their glow-in-the-dark teeth. The aliens look pretty cool, obviously nothing close to Avatar, but still cool. There’s even a couple of cool shots in the movie, which felt like the touch from producer Edgar Wright. One in particular has a character running through a room full of baddies.

Attack the Block is very similar to Shaun of the Dead, but only in the way that it’s a unique way to show an alien genre movie. Some people have a hard time classifying it as a horror movie or a comedy. It blends both, and that’s why it’s so good. Same goes with Attack the Block. It blends genres, not always being goofy, and not always being a scary alien movie. There’s a few issues with the pacing of the movie, and the acting is sophomoric, but it’s not nearly bad enough to avoid watching the movie. It’s fun, British, and will entertain you.

Fanboyz Grade: B+

I don’t know about you, but I actually like my boss. I understand that’s probably the exception to the rule, and why we typically see characters in movies and TV dealing with awful supervisors. Director Seth Gordon (Four Christmases) is giving those frustrated people a great fantasy: what if you could get rid of that terrible boss? Horrible Bosses is a collection of some great comedic talent, and the poster and trailer just hit the web. Three friends, each with an impossible boss, concoct a plan to kill their employers. Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are all great at comedy, but the casting of their employers interests me. Bateman’s boss is Hollywood veteran Kevin Spacey, Day is frequently disturbed by the sexual nature his boss Jennifer Aniston displays, and Sudeikis plays a salesman who has a comb-over touting Colin Farrell. It should make for some interesting setups having Aniston and Farrell playing roles different from what we typically see them in. Last month we featured the first official trailer for the Judd Apatow-produced comedy titled Bridesmaids. Today we have a second trailer with new footage for the film which drops into theaters May13th and stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Rose Byrne.

Bridesmaids is about a single woman (Wiig) who is asked by her best friend to be her Maid of Honor. Taking on the responsibility of dress shopping and planning the bachelorette party turns into a nightmare as this is not a traditional group of “bridesmaids.” I really enjoyed this new trailer over the first one. I think the new scenes are hilarious and I hope the trailer isn’t giving us all the good moments from the film.

Directed by Paul Feig, Bridesmaids is produced by Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad) and will arrive in theaters May 13th 2011. Check out this latest trailer and let us know what you think.

Director Todd Philips follow up to last summer’s comedy hit The Hangover is the new comedy titled Due Date. The first official trailer for the flick was released today via Yahoo and we have the hilarious trailer for you to check out below. Starring Robert Downey Jr and Hangover star Zach Galifianakis, Due Date is a road trip comedy following Peter Highman (Downey Jr) as he travels across country to make it in time for the birth of his first child. Along for the ride is aspiring actor Ethan Trembly (Galifianakis) who makes the trip an interesting one for Peter. Watch the first full trailer for Due Date below.

This looks like a great follow-up to The Hangover for director Todd Phillips. The premise reminds me of a modern day Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, with Downey Jr playing the Steve Martin role, and Galifianakis as John Candy, the annoying travel companion. I really like Will Ferrell, but I will be the first to admit his movies lately have been some of his worst. Critically and financially, Land of the Lost, Step Brothers, and Semi-Pro have been some big letdowns. I’ve always thought he does his best when he gets to play of the comedy of other actors, like he did in Anchorman. Hopefully, THE OTHER GUYS will be his shot to redeem his comedic talent. Starring with Ferrell are Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson and Eva Mendes, THE OTHER GUYS is shaping up to be the return of the buddy cop action flick. After idolizing two of the NYPD’s toughest cops, Detectives Hoitz (Wahlberg) and Gamble (Ferrell) decide to step up and live the fast and dangerous life they’ve always dreamed about. But sitting at a desk and having a Prius for a squad car have not nearly prepared them enough for what they’re about to find themselves in.

A new full length trailer has hit the net (via IMDB) for the action comedy Knight and Day starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. In the film, Cruise plays a former government spy on the run from his previous employer, and in the midst of chaos he meets June (Diaz) who he becomes smitten with, and then must ultimately protect. Knight and Day looks like a great date movie that men and women will both enjoy. Both Cruise and Diaz are a perfect match for there roles, as Cruise has the chemistry, and Diaz the frantic damsel in distress act to carry this movie. The summer comedy Get Him to the Greek has a new red-band trailer which is freakin’ hilarious. Starring Jonah Hill and Russel Brand, Greek is a spin off of the 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which first introduced us to Brand’s out there rocker character Aldous Snow. In this new movie, Jonah Hill’s Aaron Green works for a recording label (apparently Diddy’s) and has the job of going to London and picking up Snow for a reunion concert back in the States. What he thinks will be a fun trip turns into a nightmare when he gets a major dose of the rock star lifestyle. This trailer is obviously not suitable for work, so check it out at home. It is really funny.

When four friends get wasted at a ski resort and hop in the hot tub outside, they find themselves sent back to 1986. Yep, that same old story right? Starring John Cusack, Hot Tub Time Machine is one of those comedic films that pokes fun at itself while joking about the past. When I first saw the trailer, it seemed pretty funny but looked like it would fall in with most other PG-13 comedy trailers. Now it’s obvious they’re gonna shoot for a hard R, which usually suits comedy. Take a look at Hot Tub Time Machine before it hits theaters March 19th.
