It just seems that Hugh Jackman can not catch a break with his next Wolverine film. After suffering the loss of Director Darren Aronofsky and script revisions it seems that even after a replacement director in James Mangold was found the project is still hitting snags. Deadline is reporting that Fox was looking to start filming Wolverine 2 this Fall, but the majority of the script takes place in Japan, which is hard to film in with its recent unfortunate weather issues. There is a chance that the filming may be moved to Canada or take place in both countries, however, it’s looking like the start date will happen sometime in the Spring of 2012. After the success of this Summers X-Men: First Class it was nice to see that Fox could deliver on an X-Film again. Although X-Men Origins: Wolverine didn’t sit well with the fans we all love Hugh Jackman and is ongoing commitment to the X-Men franchise as well as the name sake features. He seems to know that this is his bread and butter and acknowledges past mistakes about the subject matter. More than for myself, I hope that we can get at least one more good Wolverine appearance out of Jackman. I know he can do it.

Shooting a giant action scene for The Avengers, director Joss Whedon is using Cleveland as a stand-in for New York City. If you haven’t been paying attention to the films, The Avengers are a dream team of superheros, handpicked by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to take on a threat to the world. The roster includes Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). We know, after the events of Thor, that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will get possession of a powerful artifact (the Cosmic Cube introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger) and will seek to punish his brother Thor along with humanity with it. A couple of interesting pieces of media have leaked from the set, including Captain America taking on some baddies in a pretty large scale fight. We ran a great shot of Chris Evans rocking out his 21st century outfit, but some more pictures and video made their way online. So, the first Ghost Rider movie was awful. Bad acting, horrible script/story, and the graphics were pretty terrible. However, undaunted by horrible reviews and an unhappy base, Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor wanted to take a crack at it, but only if they did the comic justice. As you may remember, the first look at the film at Comic Con 2011 really impressed us, and now we get the first official trailer, compiled of the footage screened at the convention. The movie is going to really have to impress after the bad taste the first film left in fans’ mouths, but it looks like they’re heading in the right direction. Take a look at the trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of the Vengeance below, and let us know what you think before it hits theaters February 17, 2012.

Marvel has done something very interesting with The Avengers franchise by having all of these other set up films to prequel the main title. It’s a bold move and with the success of this years Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger it looks like it may pay off. MTV has posted this great photo of Chris Evans in a more modern rendition of the star spangled man with a plans costume. I like the new take on the outfit, but honestly I think that I prefer the costume from The First Avenger. It looked very “real” to me and like something that could have been made in that time. However, this one is sleek and very stream lined, plus it does manage to carry some of the charm from the first one. I do like that it looks more “comic bookie” with the gloves and boots. I just hope that it looks good in the fights.

Director Steven Soderbergh puts together an all star cast for Contagion which centers around a team of Doctors that struggle to contain a world wide disease epidemic. Contagion stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and many more in the thriller that reminds me of 1995′s Outbreak. Warner Bros. has just released these six character posters that are very powerful. They really make me want to wash my hands. The trailer is really quite a captivating set up for the film and I don’t feel like it gives too much away. Damon and Winslet look like they will be bringing some of that Oscar power to the feature while the rest of the cast puts together a great ensemble to match. The only odd thing that I have found about the film is that it will be released in IMAX. It doesn’t really feel like a movie that I would watch on the IMAX screen, but that is just what Warner Bros. does.

If you were thinking Christopher Nolan‘s Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, was going to have a skintight leather outfit in The Dark Knight Rises like we saw in Batman Returns and the horrific 2004 Catwoman film, you’re sorely mistaken. After all, Nolan prefers function along with form. His villains don’t prance around with their silly names, usually they are a moniker given by others. Harvey Dent isn’t known in this universe as Two-Face, and the only exception was The Joker, but he was simply crazy. We know Anne Hathaway would be playing the conflicted love interest/villain Selina Kyle in the film, and more than likely Catwoman would be a name the newspapers or media would give her. Being a cat burglar, she needs to be tech savvy and get away from the scene quickly. As evidenced by the photo, she’s wearing tactical goggles and driving Batman‘s Bat Pod. Did he lend it to her? Did she steal it? It’s hard to say at this point, but I’m loving the look they’re giving her. The photo simply popped up on thedarkknightrsies.com and labels her as Selina Kyle, and hopefully we’ll get more great photos from the movie as we inch towards the July 20, 2012 release date. We have been eagerly awaiting what Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel would actually look like and today we have our answer. The first photo of Henry Cavill as Superman has been released which features the actor in costume. Warner Brothers released the first photo which reminds me of the first time we saw Christopher Nolan’s Batman. Nolan is an executive producer on Man of Steel which appears to take The Dark Knight directors’ realistic approach the the comic book movie genre.

Take a close look at the photo below. It is a high-res image so you can get a real crisp look at all the detail. My first reaction was how different this Superman costume is to past visions. Look at the texture of the suit. It reminds me more of the Spider-man costume than anything else. I am curious to see what everyone else thinks of this look.

Another aspect of this photo worth mentioning is the darker, edgier feeling. This is not what we are used to seeing, and I anxiously await more of what director Zack Snyder has in store for fans. What do you think of Superman’s look? Leave your thoughts below.

We have been covering Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel from the beginning and we now have yet another casting announcement to bring you. Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) will play Clark Kent’s boss, Perry White, the editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet. Fishburne joins an impressive cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Russell Crowe. Hero Complex first broke the news that Fishburn would be taking on the character that first appeared in comics in 1940 (Superman #7)

This will be the first time an African-American has played the role of Perry White, in both film, comics, and television. Fishburne is an outstanding actor and his addition to this cast is just one more reason this project is gearing up to be awesome. We recently reported that Snyder’s Man of Steel had been pushed back from December 2012 to summer 2013 – so we will have to wait a little longer to see this outstanding cast in action.

Normally, I’m not very excited by set photos. A lot of times it can be just actors siting around and not looking like they are in character. However, when a Christopher Nolan movie is the subject of the set photos they are always worth a look. Here we have some great photos of Tom Hardy as Bane in broad daylight as well as some fisticuffs action with the Dark Knight himself. Also, the pictures reveal our first looks at Marion Cotillard which raise questions as to her role in the movie. We know that she has been cast as Miranda Tate in the film, but the fanboy world has had its speculation that she may also be Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Talia. Obviously, these photos do not reveal much as to her characters involvement, but seeing her get into a Tumbler raises my eyebrow. I love the fact that Bane isn’t that much bigger than Batman because it makes the fights look feasible. Now, they may do some camera trickery that makes the size of Bane bigger, though I think that I would like to see Batman underestimate Bane by his stature, then be thrown by his incredible strength.

If you’re excited for next year’s team-up flick The Avengers from writer/director Joss Whedon, you’ll have to check out the teaser below, courtesy of Yahoo!. However, it does spoil the ending of Captain America: The First Avenger. If you are not familiar with the storyline, Captain America gets frozen in ice, only to wake up almost 70 years later in our world. He didn’t come from a time with heroes like Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), but he’ll be fighting alongside them with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). It’s interesting that Marvel put the scene on the web and just a small taste of the teaser (which shows about 40 more seconds of footage than the clip below) but I suppose they are trying to get people out to see Captain America, even if it’s just for the teaser.
