So, the first Ghost Rider movie was awful. Bad acting, horrible script/story, and the graphics were pretty terrible. However, undaunted by horrible reviews and an unhappy base, Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor wanted to take a crack at it, but only if they did the comic justice. As you may remember, the first look at the film at Comic Con 2011 really impressed us, and now we get the first official trailer, compiled of the footage screened at the convention. The movie is going to really have to impress after the bad taste the first film left in fans’ mouths, but it looks like they’re heading in the right direction. Director Steven Soderbergh puts together an all star cast for Contagion which centers around a team of Doctors that struggle to contain a world wide disease epidemic. Contagion stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and many more in the thriller that reminds me of 1995′s Outbreak. Warner Bros. has just released these six character posters that are very powerful. They really make me want to wash my hands. The trailer is really quite a captivating set up for the film and I don’t feel like it gives too much away. Damon and Winslet look like they will be bringing some of that Oscar power to the feature while the rest of the cast puts together a great ensemble to match. The only odd thing that I have found about the film is that it will be released in IMAX. It doesn’t really feel like a movie that I would watch on the IMAX screen, but that is just what Warner Bros. does.

A final trailer has been released for The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and although the trailer shows too much – what it does give us is pretty damn awesome. This film is gearing up to be a great addition to the summer movie season when it drops into theaters next month. Starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and Andy Serkis. We covered the 20th Century Fox panel at Comic-Con which gave us a first look at news scenes from this upcoming movie.

This trailer gives us new footage which once again showcases how phenomenal Weta’s special effects really are. The one new element of this trailer (compared to the others) is that we get to see how angry these chimps are able to become. The chaos that ensues is menacing and it goes to show this film has all the elements of a big summer blockbuster. Check out The Rise of the Planet of the Apes when it hits theaters August 5th.

Yesterday at Comic-Con Relativity Media presented a panel for their new action film Haywire starring MMA fighter Gina Carano. Surprisingly the film is directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s trilogy, Traffic, Erin Brockovich). Soderbergh’s resume is mostly focused on dramatic films, so a violent action movie is definitely a change of pace.

Haywire has a similar concept to Matt Damon’s Bourne franchise: Special agent has a hit out on them. The attempt fails and special agent seeks revenge on those who tried to kill him. Although the films share a similar plot, this time around the protagonist is a badass female who has some very special fighting skills. Along with Carano, Haywire also stars Michael Douglas, Michael Fassenbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Antonio Banderas, and Channing Tatum.

The fight scenes in this trailer are exciting to watch, but I am not completely sold on the story. I hope it does not play out like a generic spy thriller as the trailer is giving me the impression it will. I thoroughly enjoy the supporting cast but carrying the film on Carano’s shoulders is a risky move as most people have no idea who she is. Hopefully her supporting cast does not upstage her, but from the trailer there is a good chance she is going to kill most of them, so that may not even be a problem.

Yesterday at Comic-Con the critically acclaimed film Drive had a featured panel which included the cast and director. Today we have a new red-band trailer for the film which is about a Hollywood stunt driver who is willing to take any driving job for anyone. Gosling’s character unfortunately joins in a heist that goes very wrong. After watching this this trailer for Drive, I am eagerly awaiting the release of this film which rolls into theaters September 16th 2011. Drive stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Ron Perlman and is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. Watch this red band trailer and let us know if you are looking forward to this movie as much as we are.

Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can’t help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac). After a heist intended to pay off Standard’s protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals (Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman). But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk-that they’re coming straight for Irene and her son-Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense.

Similar to the Saw franchise, the producers behind Paranormal Activity don’t know when to stop when they are ahead. The first two films grossed over a combined $350 million so another sequel was not surprising. For the third film we go back to 1988 when VHS camcorders were the thing to have and based on this trailer it appears the movie is told through home video footage.

I am curious to see how this plays out and to ultimately find out if the concept itself is actually played out. Going back to the 1980′s I think gives this franchise some hope and I look forward to seeing what they do the third time around. Check out this first teaser trailer below.

The first teaser trailer has arrived for Sony’s reboot of Spider-man from director Marc Webb. ‘Social Network’ actor Andrew Garfield stars as Peter Parker in this 3D reboot set to hit theaters summer 2012.

The first trailer brings back memories of when we first saw Sam Raimi’s Spider-man back in 2002. Once again an origin story, The Amazing Spider-Man tells how ordinary geek Peter Parker became our favorite web-slinging superhero. The teaser trailer introduces us to Peter’s Uncle and Aunt played by Martin Sheen and Sally Field respectively. Also in the cast is Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy who has gone from the red-head we know to a hot blonde for this role. Last week we featured some great photos from Entertainment Weekly that showcased the film for the first time.

There are a few aspects of this trailer I really enjoy and a few I am not too sold on. I think the cast actually looks like high school students, where Tobey Maguire and company looked a little too old for their teenage roles. Garfield and Stone look to be perfectly cast, and from what I can tell this Spider-man may be a bit darker than we may have expected. Instead of geeky Peter Parker, we have a more “emo” style Spider-man to be, which I hope fits the character and does not serve as a distraction (think about Spider-man 3′s weird dance sequence.) The final shot of Spidey climbing up tall buildings and swinging through the air with the perspective from the superheroes eyes is an awesome scene. I hope the film does not play out like a video game as this sequence does have that kind of feeling, but I will want to see much more before I offer any real criticism.

The fire rises in the first teaser trailer for the upcoming superhero movie The Dark Knight Rises. Starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway, the final Batman film wraps up Christopher Nolan‘s series about Gotham City‘s caped crusader. We’ve been very excited about the project, and after seeing it in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, I’m glad it hit the web soon after theaters. Dealing with Bane, Catwoman, and possibly a young Ra’s al Ghul, Batman’s going to have his hands full protecting the city from all manner of evil. I have heard a lot of people complain that the teaser doesn’t reveal a lot about the movie (considering the first half is rehashed footage from the first two I understand) but I think there’s enough in there to make Batman fans like me get their brains working. First, the shot of Gordon in the hospital really gives the impression that the Commissioner is in bad shape. I hope it isn’t something like cancer, because from the conversation he has with the off-screen character (we presume is Bruce Wayne), he makes it sound like there’s a reason he got put in critical condition at the hospital. Second, if it is Bruce Wayne he’s talking to (“We were in this together” sure makes it sound like it is), he might not be in good shape either. As fans know, Bane breaks Batman’s back in a fight and puts him out of commission for a while. The shot, especially from the beginning of the scene with Gordon, looks like he’s sitting down, but with his arm’s raised he could be in a wheelchair. Makes sense why he’d be saying we need Batman back. Third, it seems that Gordon know’s Batman’s identity. Why else would he be talking about needing Batman to some rich billionaire. Last, the shots of Bruce doing push-ups and climbing up a well (looks like the one he fell down as a child) could be Wayne rehabilitating himself to get ready for his showdown with Bane. Just some theories, but who knows, maybe I’m right about something for once.

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Martin Scorsese’s new 3D Adventure film Hugo. Hugo is an adaptation of the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. The story is about an orphan and the mystery involving his late father’s automation invention. With the help of a girl he befriends in a Paris train station, they both investigate the seemingly strange connection between them as it relates to his father’s creation and the girl’s key that operates it.

 I’m a huge fan of Martin Scorsese and it will be interesting to see his first family-friendly movie. This trailer is sure to intrigue anyone interested in fantasy, adventure films. Considering the talent of the director and the cast, this movie will likely not disappoint.

 Hugo is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed) and stars Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz, with Jude Law, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Richard Griffiths and Michael Stuhlbarg. This film was written by John Logan (Gladiator, Sweeney Todd, Bond 23), and it will be released everywhere November 23, 2011.

The first trailer for the upcoming Disney film John Carter just hit the web, and it’s looking pretty epic. The story is about a man transported to Mars, only to end up being caught in a war on the red planet. The adapted work is famous in fantasy/sci-fi circles, and it looks like Disney is getting behind the series early on, hoping to adapt more stories and build a franchise. You may recognize stars Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with the former playing Gambit and the latter playing Kayla Silverfox.
