It just seems that Hugh Jackman can not catch a break with his next Wolverine film. After suffering the loss of Director Darren Aronofsky and script revisions it seems that even after a replacement director in James Mangold was found the project is still hitting snags. Deadline is reporting that Fox was looking to start filming Wolverine 2 this Fall, but the majority of the script takes place in Japan, which is hard to film in with its recent unfortunate weather issues. There is a chance that the filming may be moved to Canada or take place in both countries, however, it’s looking like the start date will happen sometime in the Spring of 2012. After the success of this Summers X-Men: First Class it was nice to see that Fox could deliver on an X-Film again. Although X-Men Origins: Wolverine didn’t sit well with the fans we all love Hugh Jackman and is ongoing commitment to the X-Men franchise as well as the name sake features. He seems to know that this is his bread and butter and acknowledges past mistakes about the subject matter. More than for myself, I hope that we can get at least one more good Wolverine appearance out of Jackman. I know he can do it.

Shooting a giant action scene for The Avengers, director Joss Whedon is using Cleveland as a stand-in for New York City. If you haven’t been paying attention to the films, The Avengers are a dream team of superheros, handpicked by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to take on a threat to the world. The roster includes Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). We know, after the events of Thor, that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will get possession of a powerful artifact (the Cosmic Cube introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger) and will seek to punish his brother Thor along with humanity with it. A couple of interesting pieces of media have leaked from the set, including Captain America taking on some baddies in a pretty large scale fight. We ran a great shot of Chris Evans rocking out his 21st century outfit, but some more pictures and video made their way online. Marvel has done something very interesting with The Avengers franchise by having all of these other set up films to prequel the main title. It’s a bold move and with the success of this years Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger it looks like it may pay off. MTV has posted this great photo of Chris Evans in a more modern rendition of the star spangled man with a plans costume. I like the new take on the outfit, but honestly I think that I prefer the costume from The First Avenger. It looked very “real” to me and like something that could have been made in that time. However, this one is sleek and very stream lined, plus it does manage to carry some of the charm from the first one. I do like that it looks more “comic bookie” with the gloves and boots. I just hope that it looks good in the fights.

We have been covering Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel from the beginning and we now have yet another casting announcement to bring you. Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) will play Clark Kent’s boss, Perry White, the editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet. Fishburne joins an impressive cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Russell Crowe. Hero Complex first broke the news that Fishburn would be taking on the character that first appeared in comics in 1940 (Superman #7)

This will be the first time an African-American has played the role of Perry White, in both film, comics, and television. Fishburne is an outstanding actor and his addition to this cast is just one more reason this project is gearing up to be awesome. We recently reported that Snyder’s Man of Steel had been pushed back from December 2012 to summer 2013 – so we will have to wait a little longer to see this outstanding cast in action.

Normally, I’m not very excited by set photos. A lot of times it can be just actors siting around and not looking like they are in character. However, when a Christopher Nolan movie is the subject of the set photos they are always worth a look. Here we have some great photos of Tom Hardy as Bane in broad daylight as well as some fisticuffs action with the Dark Knight himself. Also, the pictures reveal our first looks at Marion Cotillard which raise questions as to her role in the movie. We know that she has been cast as Miranda Tate in the film, but the fanboy world has had its speculation that she may also be Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Talia. Obviously, these photos do not reveal much as to her characters involvement, but seeing her get into a Tumbler raises my eyebrow. I love the fact that Bane isn’t that much bigger than Batman because it makes the fights look feasible. Now, they may do some camera trickery that makes the size of Bane bigger, though I think that I would like to see Batman underestimate Bane by his stature, then be thrown by his incredible strength.

Marvel has released several new one sheets for The Avengers. These posters are concept art which shows us what we can expect the characters and costumes to look like when the film hits theaters next summer. These awesome posters include Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. The final poster includes the S.H.I.E.L.D agents Nick Fury, Agent Coulson, and Maria Hill.

Hugh Jackman was at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday promoting his new film Real Steal arriving in theaters this October. Jackman appeared offsite and talked about his upcoming Marvel sequel The Wolverine. The actor was able to confirm some details from the film including who the villain will be. WhatCulture is reporting that the Silver Samurai will appear as the main antagonist in the film which is a sequel to the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The sequel is being written by Christopher McQuarrie and we have learned the film will be based on the four issue limited series from Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that was published in the 1980′s. In the Marvel universe the Silver Samurai is sometimes a superhero and other times a super villain.

Keniuchio Harada is the mutant son of the former Japanese crimelord Shingen Harada. As a youth, Harada mastered the attendant disciplines of the medieval samurai and sought employment as a warrior for hire. Following his father’s death, Harada sought the leadership of Shingen’s Clan Yashida from his half-sister Mariko Yashida, but was opposed by the ronin Yukio and Mariko’s lover, the mutant adventurer Wolverine.

The Wolverine does not have a release date yet but we recently learned the film will be directed by James Mangold and will be shot mostly in Japan.

Warner Brothers announced today that they will release Superman: Man of Steel on June 14th 2013. The film was previously scheduled for release December 2012, but the studio has since moved the release date to a summer 2013 release. No word on what prompted the move, but as soon as we hear more details we will report them.

Superman: Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent along with Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix. Directed by Zack Snyder (Suckerpunch, 300) Man of Steel will hopefully have a panel of its own next year at Comic Con. Stay with us for more Superman news as it is released!

Today is the eve of the biggest geek gathering in the world, also known as the San Diego Comic-Con. At last year’s convention we learned that Marvel was putting together a film based on The Avengers, a universe of superheroes that includes Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America. One year later the film is now in production and today we have the first teaser poster which features a giant “A” and the tagline: “Assemble 2012.”

Also launching today is the official website for the film which you can check out right here. There isn’t much to discuss with this simple, almost too simple of a poster, which doesn’t really give us all that much to look at. I was hoping for a little more since Marvel will not be showing any footage at Comic-Con for the film. But I can guarantee that we will be hearing much more about The Avengers in the coming months.
