Ever since the “Governator” took office in 2003 fans of the the action star have often wondered when or if he would come back to the fold after his political duties. After almost eight years of waiting fans around the world may rejoice in the fact that another of our great action heroes should be returning to the big screen and soon. Although Schwarzenegger has not confirmed any details on his next project it was reassuring to know that he has many prospects that he sounds happy to entertain. TheArnoldFans had a chance to meet up with the man himself at this years Arnold Classic ( A body building competition) to which the actor released some insight to the amount of scripts he’s looking at and a little bit of info on another medium that the legend hopes to impact:

“Well, first of all it’s more like 15 films, obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man and all of those things. Then also a lot of original stuff too. But I am also packaging a Comic Book character right now. I’m going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April.”

Not surprising that The Terminator and Predator come up in the conversation with some spark from those two franchises in recent memory, but the comic book does have me thinking. What kind of comic book? Is it an original idea? I’m hoping for Indiana Jones meets Austrian Bodybuilder. Is a comic book movie in works too? Many, many questions surrounding the much anticipated return of The Last Action Hero. After last years cameo in THE EXPENDABLES many of us can’t wait to see an on screen reunion, with action this time, of Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis.

What do you think of Arnold Schwarzeneggers return? Would like to see him in a familiar franchise? New project? or Both? Post comments below.

Ryan Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities right now (I’m not referring to his looks, but that would also apply). He’s been around the past few years playing great comedic characters, but stretched his proverbial wings in the depressingly sad X-Men Origins: Wolverine. His pseudo-character, Deadpool, was one of the better things about the movie, but even his character was handled poorly. Not his fault though; in fact, his portrayal in the film was enough to get a long-dead Deadpool project off the ground. When it was announced Reynolds would be playing the titular hero in Warner Bros. adaptation of Green Lantern, that got fans excited beyond belief. However, Warner Bros. is looking to make Green Lantern a successful franchise, so what did that mean to Deadpool? In speaking to Empire Magazine, Reynolds addressed both movies, and you can read his quotes below.

I’m a bit nervous about Green Lantern. As I have already discussed, there appear to be some signs fans are not liking what they’re seeing about the project. One magnet for frustration is his costume. In the film, the costume comes out of his power ring. So, it has to look somewhat foreign and alien. The only footage of the film we’ve seen is the single trailer that’s been released. It’s pretty fun, highlighting how Hal finds himself worried about living up to what he needs to be. So, we’ve only had one look at his costume. It was taken as motion-capture, so the camera tracks the actor and the costume will be digitally added in post-production. However, a lot of people think the costume looks too fake and computerized. Yes, in the trailer it looks that way, but considering the time the trailer was cut and released, there’s a lot of time to touch things up in post-production. I remember people saying The Hulk looked fake in the first trailer for The Incredible Hulk was released, but it was because they were still working on him. In regards to the costume, this is what Ryan Reynolds had to say:

“It has to be virtual rather than spandex,” says Reynolds, wearing his grey sensor suit. “This is a suit from an alien planet. It’s not The Dark Knight – I don’t put the suit on and my voice drops several octaves,” adds Reynolds, unfazed by the absence of green tights. “The suit is powered specifically on his will, his emotion, his creativity and his imagination. I love that.” “Everything Hal creates are images from his childhood,” he goes on. “Or things fueled specifically from his own mind.” Like green skin-tight body suits, eh?”

Notice his Canadian slips there a bit at the end. I understand what he’s saying, and I can tell he wants fans’ minds to be eased, but the only way that will happen is when we get a better look at the suit. I like that the costume is drawn out of his mind, a wearable construct he creates. I think it makes more sense than just putting on clothes as his uniform, but I’m no Green Lantern expert.

Reynolds had little to say about Deadpool, presumably because there is little to say. I honestly don’t see him being about to fit the project in if Green Lantern is a huge hit, but we’ll see. Speaking specifically about Deadpool, Ryan had this to say:

“Deadpool’s still in the works. I’m not sure how logistically it works in terms of scheduling, but yeah, I want it to happen.”

He also speaks about the differences between the two characters, explaining:

“Those two universes are completely different. Superhero movies are so pervasive in pop culture, I don’t look at the as superhero roles as much as just roles. They’re such different people. Deadpool is about a guy in a highly militarized shame spiral, Green Lantern is more universally themed.”

It looks like he really understands the difference between adapting the two comic book characters to screen, so maybe there’s hope for both. Green Lantern lands in theaters June 17, 2011. Which of the two projects do you think Ryan Reynolds will be more entertaining in, or which one will be more successful? Make sure to leave your thoughts below.

Ever since it was announced that 3oo and WATCHMEN director Zack Snyder would be the man behind the lens for the Superman reboot, the next question to be answered was who would be Superman? For months fans and bloggers have speculated with many fine choices. Now, it seems that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have found the last son of Krypton. Deadline is reporting that British actor Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent/ Superman in the much anticipated SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL. I have not seen much of Cavill’s work in the past, but The Tudors star definitely has the the chiseled looks to play Kal-El.

It is a bit strange to have an American icon like Superman be played by a British actor, but the world we live in now transcends nationalities when it comes to an actors worth. And hey, Christian Bale is from Wales and that worked out pretty well. In the past Cavill has been on the track to play an iconic character, but has just fell short. He had also auditioned for the roles of Batman and James Bond, but lost out to Bale and Daniel Craig respectively. However, life has a way of rewarding those of us whom have the drive to succeed and the chance to play Superman could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Story line details and villains are sure to follow in coming months with this news and most will be waiting on the edge of their seats. With Christopher Nolan producing and Zack Snyder directing, this reboot has the makings to send this franchise up, up and away.

What do you think of this casting chioce? Post comments below.

There’s an interesting rumor floating around on the web this morning. As many fans will recall, there’s been a lot of talk about the possibility of Dr. Hugo Strange appearing in Christopher Nolan‘s final Batman film The Dark Knight Rises. The potential of including the villain had a lot of people intrigued, as Hugo Strange is a very psychological opponent for the Caped Crusader. A writer for the website BatmanOnFilm tweeted “RW as Strange? Hmmm….” which a lot of people online believe might just be a rumor and nothing confirmed. RW stands for actor/comedian Robin Williams, and honestly, I would love to see him play the role in the next Batman film.

Now, I know a lot of people out there are thinking that since there’s already two villains cast, a third would be too heavy for the movie and become cluttered. However, Nolan doesn’t mind layering villains. The Dark Knight had The Joker, The Chechen, Sal Maroni, a cameo from Scarecrow, the Asian guy Lau, and not to mention Two-Face. I don’t think Catwoman will really be getting seen as a villain, more of a criminal who’s catching the attention of The Bat. Bane, in my opinion, will be driving the main villainy of the movie. This leaves the opening for including Hugo Strange, a bad guy Batman has to fight psychologically while dealing with the brute force of Bane.

Robin Williams would be a fantastic choice for Hugo Strange. I first thought Tom Hardy would make a good Dr. Strange, but knowing now he’ll be playing Bane made me focus on the idea that Christopher Nolan wants Batman to have a very psychically challenging bouts. However, with the psychological tones of the previous movies, it would be a letdown for Bruce Wayne not to deal with a crazy genius. Robin Williams has previous experience with Christopher Nolan, as he was the antagonist in the psychological thriller Insomnia with Al Pacino. Williams, also in One Hour Photo, has shown he’s good for more than just a laugh; he brings with him acting clout and a dark nature. However, considering we haven’t seen anything substantial of the inclusion of Hugo Strange or casting Robin Williams in the movie, it may just be a lot of hot air.

Would anyone like to see Robin Williams play Dr. Hugo Strange in The Dark Knight Rises?

His striking voice and prominent facial features made him easily recognizable in film; the type of actor most people would probably look at and remember having seen him in something. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in 1993′s In The Name Of The Father, playing an IRA member and father to Daniel Day Lewis. He was most recently seen in Ben Affleck’s The Town as the evil rose shop guy. Audiences might also remember his small but powerful performance as Cillian Murphy’s father in Inception. Probably my favorite role of his was in the crime masterpiece The Usual Suspects, playing the lawyer Kobayashi for the villainous Kaiser Söze. It’s sad to see an actor pass away so young, and he was a great actor at that. He will be missed.

That is what Chris Hemsworth is doing with Thor. SEGA reported that they signed the Captain Kirk to voice his newest character in the upcoming video game adaptation of the movie. Not only will the star of the movie be involved but also Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki who is Thor’s brother.

Given this new bit of information probably won’t make the game any better. The Iron Man video games had AAA voice talents including Robert Downey Jr. in the first one and Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson in the second and both of those games were nothing but awful. Maybe SEGA has learned and will make a passable game, chances are they won’t but maybe.

Thor: God of Thunder is probably due around the same time as the film’s release on almost every system.

I went to a fairly conservative Christian high school. The extent of the movies we would get to watch hardly reached beyond the animated Chronicles of Narnia movies. But one teacher, Mr. Howard, somehow managed to show his classes some awesome movies. One of which was the classic Airplane! film. As a middle school student, it was awesome beyond comprehension. Sadly, one of the stars of the comedy died today. Leslie Nielsen lived to the ripe age of 84, but he still died too young. The man who turned the Police Squad show into the hit comedy trilogy Naked Gun films, he often ventured into slapstick and spoof. He continues to be in my top 5 comedians of all time, and I will truly miss him. He did some great work in his career, and here’s a list of a few must-watch movies from his library.

Airplane!

Almost every single line in Airplane! is quotable. Leslie Nielsen isn’t the only comedy gold in the movie, Unsolved Mysteries host Robert Stack and Peter Graves hold their own dealing with a plane full of sick people and an unstable pilot trying to land the plane. I get personally offended when I hear about people having not seen the movie.

The Naked Gun

The first film in the series is the best, but all the movies have their own silly laughs and plots. In the first film, evil tanned man Ricardo Montaiban wants to kill the Queen of England, and it’s up to Frank Drebin to stop him. There’s some great comedic set-ups and ridiculous moments, like wearing a wireless mic and forgetting to turn it off in the bathroom, but it’s still funny today as it was back in the 1980s.

Wrongfully Accused

Some people haven’t seen Wrongfully Accused, which is sad because it’s a good spoof flick. And by good, I mean completely silly. However, making fun of The Fugitive actually goes a long way, and provides quite a bit of laughs. I personally prefer this film over another one of his movie spoofs, Spy Hard, although Weird Al’s theme is pretty legit.

Forbidden Planet

Most people don’t know this, but Leslie Nielsen was in the classic sci-fi flick Forbidden Planet. While it may not sound familiar to modern day audiences, it had a big impact of science fiction movies back in the 1950s. You may not recognize Leslie Nielsen without his white hair, but his deep voice is unmistakable.
Before a Michigan State Spartan Basketball game, 300 star Gerard Butler came out onto the court to rally the fans together. It would be one of the coolest things to see in person, and someone got it on tape. Check out the awesome video below.
