Russell Crowe to Play Superman’s Dad in ‘MAN OF STEEL’

We haven’t had a good Superman: Man of Steel update lately, so I am excited to announce that Russell Crowe has joined the cast as Superman’s biological father Jor-El. The news was announced earlier today that the Oscar winning actor would join director Zack Snyder’s latest film in the iconic role originally portrayed by actor Marlon Brando in the 1978 original Superman film.

Variety broke the story today that Crowe had signed on to the production which has already cast British actor Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel. The role of Jor-El was one of the last to fill, as Snyder is ready to roll cameras on his big budget production which along with Crowe and Cavill, stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon and Kevin Costner. David Goyer has penned the script and has been working alongside producer Christopher Nolan, but at this time there are no plot details to report.

This has to be one of the most stellar casts ensembles to come along. I eagerly await some details when the production actually begins shooting. I sincerely hope that Snyder and company can pull off a better film than Superman Returns, the last time we saw the Man of Steel grace the big screen.

What do you think? Can Snyder and his all-star cast make this the movie it should be? Share with us your thoughts below.
