Viggo Mortensen as General Zod in Superman Reboot?

When you make a list of Superman‘s most formidable villains it’s hard to say who is the top dog. Obviously Lex Luthor is the last son of Kryptons  greatest enemy, but General Zod would be a close second. According to a source from The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are trying to cast a person to play Zod and Viggo Mortensen is at the top of the list.

Right now this is just a person of interest type of situation and not talks have officially started, but the Lord of the Rings star could stack up well physically against the chiseled looks of new Superman Henry Cavill.

I love this choice for Zod. I think that Mortensen has such a great look to him and if this deal can go through it could be the makings of a great Kal-El/ Zod match up. Adding Mortensens star power along with Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent is putting this franchise in the right direction for me. We will follow this story up when more solid news comes to light.
