Ben Affleck May Direct TALES FROM THE GANGSTER SQUAD
Ben Affleck may be following his critically (and commercially) successful film The Town with Warner Brother’s L.A crime drama Tales From the Gangster Squad. Affleck has clearly become a favorite of Warner Brothers as they are now just offering him projects. Gangster Squad is set in the 1940′s and is about a team of LAPD officers who attempt to push out gangster Mickey Cohen out of town.
According to Vulture the studio has put an offer out to Affleck to direct the film which is an adaptation of a series of articles written in the L.A Times in 2008. The screenplay has been written by a former L.A cop named Will Beal who currently writes for the ABC drama Castle. Affleck has yet to accept the offer as he is deciding which project he wants to take on next. It is nice to see Affleck heading in a strong, positive direction with his career that is sure to bring him much deserved success. After directing Gone Baby Gone and The Town Affleck has proved he can handle the crime aspect of a film so a story about cops and gangsters should be a good project for him to take on.
