COMMUNITY’S Joel McHale Cast in SPY KIDS 4

Comedian and television star Joel McHale has been cast in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel Spy Kids 4. Variety is reporting that McHale (The Soup, Community) will take on a role opposite Jessica Alba as a spy-hunting reporter who is married to Alba’s character. In the sequel titled, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, Alba plays a retired spy who gets back in the game. For the fourth film there will be new “kids” cast, as the original spy kids, Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara are no longer kids at all. They are expected to make a cameo in the film, but there will be new spy kids cast in the lead roles.

The first three Spy Kids movies grossed over $360 million worldwide. Why a fourth film you may ask? Rodriguez created the Spy Kids movies for his kids. The Machete director is obviously a versatile talent who wants to bring more than bloody revenge tales to the big screen.

With the addition of Joel McHale to the cast, we expect to hear more casting news as Dimension already has a release date for the film which is August 19th 2011.

I love Joel McHale, he's the type of actor I'd watch just about anything if he's in it

I like him too…just not sure if Spy Kids is what I want to see him in. His humor in The Soup and Community won't work for Spy Kids, so I don't know what he will really bring to the movie.
