Set in his hometown of Boston, The Town stars Affleck along with Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Blake Lively, Chris Cooper, and Rebecca Hall. The Town is an adaptation of the novel Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan, and follows a team of bank robbers who reside in Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood, an area known as “the bank robbery capital of the world.” After a robbery which involves taking a woman named Claire (Rebecca Hall) hostage, the group of thieves later learn that Claire lives in the neighborhood and could be a problem for the guys who are eluding capture by an FBI agent played by Jon Hamm.

The plot thickens when Affleck’s character Doug tracks down Claire and ends up falling for his former victim. This action-packed film has more than just gun fire and car chases. As in Gone Baby Gone, Affleck knows the importance of the environment he is working in. Boston may be the backdrop for this crime saga but it represents much more to these characters. It is their life.
