Marvel Planning IRON FIST Movie

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios is planning a big screen adaptation of the Marvel character Iron Fist. The character was created in 1974 by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane as a martial arts superhero in the Marvel universe. You may not have heard of Iron Fist before if you aren’t a comic book reader, but down below we have a detailed report on who this character is and where he comes from.

Plans for the movie include hiring XXX (the Vin Diesel movie) screenwriter Rich Wilkes to pen an adaptation of the comic book series. This isn’t the first time Iron Fist has been on the path to the big screen. Back in 2000 Artisan Entertainment planned to adapt the project but plans fell through over time. Various other actors, directors, and writers have at one point been attached to this project but were unsuccessful at getting the movie made.

So who exactly is Iron Fist?

His alter-ego is Daniel Thomas Rand-K’ai and has been part of the New Avengers team as well as Heroes for Hire and Defenders. In the past he has partnered with Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Master Izo in various Marvel stories. At a young age Daniel begins training in the martial arts and is a gifted young student. He conditions his fists by plunging them into buckets of sand, gravel, and rock to toughen them.

It will be interesting to see how this adaptation ends up down the road. Iron Fist is a different type of superhero. One who is a martial artist and lacks the traditional superhero appeal of characters like Batman, Spider-Man, and Iron Man. What do you think about an Iron Fist movie? Kind-of strikes me as an odd character to bring to the big screen without having made a cameo in any of the marvel movies to generate interest yet.

He wouldn't be my choice of a super-hero to get his movie next, but if they can make a strong movie with it then bring it on!
