Stallone Already Interested in EXPENDABLES Sequel

The ensemble action-star flick The Expendables finally opens in theaters everywhere tomorrow (or midnight tonight, depending on where you are at.) Sylvester Stallone is directing the movie that unites some of the biggest action stars of past and present including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, and Bruce Willis.

So with a project that brings together so many high profile action stars, it only makes sense we would hear talk about a sequel.The L.A Times is reporting that Stallone is already interested in a sequel to The Expendables.

Stallone had to this say about a possible sequel:

“If this does perform, I think it will open a little more liquidity in funding the sequel,” he said. “I have an idea ready to go. People think doing a sequel is easy, but it’s not because you need the element of surprise. I’m going to try to do something that’s quite radical.”

Stallone doesn’t really elaborate on what he would like to do for a sequel, but I would hope he could bring in even more stars to fill the cast. How awesome would it be to see a movie that included Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, or even Chuck Norris!? During his Comic-Con panel for The Expendables, Stallone told the audience that he had put out calls to all three of those guys, but it just didn’t work out this time around.

Hopefully The Expendables opens big this weekend for Stallone, and the next time we are talking about a sequel, it may be confirming the news.
