First Look: Superhero Comedy SUPER

Ah, Rainn Wilson makes me laugh. He’s constantly hilarious on The Office, did a great small role in Transformers: Rise of the Fallen, and was the best part of My Super Ex-Girlfriend. His newest film, written and directed by James Gunn (Slither), looks like it will capitalize on Wilson’s humor in a dark comedic hero flick. Super is an independent project but boasts some great acting talent, including Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, and Ellen Page. Two new pictures have surfaced from the movie, one with Wilson and Tyler (husband and wife couple in the film) and Rainn in his superhero costume (looks ridiculously awesome). Frank (Rainn Wilson) has a hard time dealing with his wife’s infidelity, especially when it’s with a smooth talking drug dealer named Jacques (Kevin Bacon). To defeat crime in the city, and take down Jacques, he creates “The Crimson Bolt,” a superhero persona. With the aid of a comic book store clerk (Ellen Page), he will defeat Jacques as well as the criminal element in his city. Super currently does not have a release date.
