Rihanna Cast in Universal’s BATTLESHIP

According to Variety, pop singer Rihanna will make her big screen debut in the upcoming movie Battleship which is based on the Hasbro board game. Directed by Peter Berg, Battleship will be a live-action adaptation of the game which puts opponents against each other in an attempt to sink their battleship by guessing the correct cordinates.

There is no word yet as to the character Rihanna will play, but she does join actors Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard in an adventure that takes place over seas, in the skies, and across the world, as we fend off an alien attack.

Interesting plot synopsis for a movie that was based on a board game of naval strategy. But that is Hollywood for you. Rihanna doesn’t really bring much more anticipation to this film. Many musicians turned actors don’t blend well on the silver screen, but we will wait and see. Universal has Battleship scheduled for release on May 18th 2012.
