Matthew Vaughn Confirmed for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
20th Century Fox wasn’t joking when they said that they wanted to put X-MEN: FIRST CLASS on the fast track as they have announced that KICK-ASS director, Matthew Vaughn, will be leading the project. Last week reports began to circulate that Vaughn was in talks to step into the directors chair as Marvel wanted to get started on this project quickly. They have even set a release date for the film to be June 3, 2011. Bryan Singer (X2, SUPERMAN RETURNS) was initially set to direct, but his obligation to JACK THE GIANT KILLER conflicted with 20th Century Fox’s plans. Right now, it is planned that Singer will produce X:FC and that some of the ideas for his X-MEN ORIGINS: MAGNETO script will be involved in the story.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is supposed to be about the early years of Professor Xavier and his X-Men and also show some back story before he and Magneto became enemies. It sounds like a great idea and I really hope that they can pull it off. The main thing that scares me is the time frame. It gives Fox just over a year to have this movie ready for fan boys eagerly awaiting another good X-Men film. Can it be done in that short amount of time? I guess we will see.
