Jon Favreau Talks About Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS

IRON MAN 2 director Jon Favreau sat down with MTV to talk about Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, SERENITY) behind the lens for Marvel’s upcoming AVENGERS film. Last month it was reported that Whedon was in “final talks” to direct the upcoming film about Earths Mightiest Heroes and the fan boy community, as a whole, seemed to be very much on board with that notion. There are a few skeptics that believe Whedon is only good a doing stories based on girl power because of his choice in character leads, however, I think some may be missing a huge point. All of Whedon’s shows have these big casts that seem to work really well together. You always have your main characters, but the rest are not completely overshadowed and add to the already great story. If only Marvel had a team with big names that also had awesome secondary characters? Oh wait, they do; The Avengers. He could be the absolute best choice for this project, but what does Jon Favreau think?

It’s nice to hear Favreau talk about Whedon in such a positive light. I’m a little shocked that he doesn’t know more about the certainty of the directors spot being the Executive Producer, but I guess that there is more to it than I’m aware of.
