‘Wolverine’ Sequel to Film in 2011
Some X-Men fans can rejoice in the knowledge that a new ‘Wolverine’ movie is in the works. Others may want to sit down for this news. Christopher McQuarrie (X-Men and Valkyrie) has finished the script for Marvel’s most recognized mutant and is scheduled to start filming in 2011 according to The Hollywood Reporter and MTV. I am more that happy to see more X-Men related material getting prepared to shoot, but this seems a little fast. It hasn’t even been a years since the first film came out and X-Men Origins: Wolverine was not well received by the masses. I am not sure that fans are ready for a sequel to a rushed, bad visual effects ridden, poorly made film.

Most people I know did not enjoy the first film, but were intrigued at the aspect of the film ending when Logan appeared to be in Japan. Apparently the script is inspired by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s comic book about Wolverine’s time in Japan. That particular story is very well written and really explores Logan’s journey in to martial arts and the way that he tries to find some peace in doing so. Frank Miller once spoke of how he thought it was great that Wolverine was a “failed Samurai”. How much of that aspect will be in the film in unknown. It sounds like we can expect and maybe hope for a much better story than what we got from the first film. At this time there is no director attached or new cast members.
