Will Captain America Please Step Forward…

Several names got dropped today by The Heat Vision Blog concerning the actors being looked at to play Captain America in the upcoming First Avenger: Captain America movie as well as The Avengers. I usually yawn when it comes to these rumors on casting, but a few of the names listed really caught my attention. Screen tests are taking place for the role of Steve Rogers this week, and some of the names have either already tested or are expected to test. Who are the men looking to stop Red Skull and his Nazi minions next year? Check out the candidates below.

Michael Cassidy

Patrick Flueger

Scott Porter

Mike Vogel

John Krasinski

With the exemption of Krasinski, most of these actors are below the radar when it comes to Hollywood success. Michael Cassidy was on Fox’s The O.C. and co-starred alongside Tim Allen in Zoom. Patrick Flueger is most commonly known for his role on USA Network’s The 4400. Scott Porter can be seen on Syfi’s Caprica and played young Rex Racer in 2008′s Speed Racer. Mike Vogel fought off motion sickness in Cloverfield and Poseidon. Lastly, John Krasinski is currently starring in his sixth season of the comedy hit The Office, but can also be seen in Leatherheads and Away We Go. It is important to remember that these are not specifically the finalists for the role. Screen testing allows producers and directors to see how the actor auditions for the role, but there have been times when a role has not gone to someone who has screen tested, as Chris Hemsworth only had an audition tape when he was picked for the title character in Thor. As more news breaks on the casting of Captain America, we will keep you posted. Anyone stand out to Cap fans?

Haha, this is a very clever move by the casting directors by putting out a casting list with all of these names to throw people off…We already know that Captain America is going to be none other than Matthew Fox.
