Heavy Rain was first introduced as a video demonstrating the incredible graphics on the Playstation 3 a few years ago. However, the footage was more then just a tech demo, but one of the most ambitious games to date. Instead of making a mystery game in the vein of detective/action games like Condemned and True Crime, developer Quantic Dream is going to take players beyond the norms of games. The best way to describe the game is a playable movie. Interestingly enough, the action in the game is not activated by the player by pressing specific attack buttons, but actions are slightly directed by the player. Check out an awesome trailer for the game below.
Graphically, Heavy Rain is one of the best games out there. Being released on February 11th, a lot of game critics are going to be considering it for possible game of the year I’m sure. It has been described as being “film noir” and reflecting on some of the most classic crime films. The story follows four characters as a serial killer known as the “Origami Killer” strikes with little evidence of his/her identity. The game is strikingly similar to 2005’s Indigo Prophecy where action events and certain puzzle mechanics were triggered by pressing certain buttons at designated times. Is anyone else looking forward to this game?
