Mark Strong In Talks To Play Sinestro In ‘Green Lantern’

Rumors had been all over the web that Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) had been tapped to play the great foe of the Green Lantern’s Sinestro. GL director Martin Campbell sat down with MTV during a press junket to talk about his latest film Edge Of Darkness and Campbell put that rumor to rest and also gave out some other information as well. We know that Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard have been put in the mix and now it sounds like Mark Strong may be apart of the selection as well.

“No, that’s completely wrong,” said Campbell about Haley’s involvement in the project. “In fact, we’re in negotiations with Mark Strong to play Sinestro. He’s not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro,” he added. “If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he’s very like him. The Jackie Earle Haley thing, somebody told me about it this morning; I had never heard it before in my life.”

That’s from the director himself so Haley is not going to be Sinestro. I love Mark Strong for this role. He definitely has the presence for the role  and has proven himself a capable actor in many fine films. Campbell also added that we will get fan favorites Kilowog, Tomar Re and Abin Sur for sure in the picture. All of these pieces coming together is making me a very happy GL fan.
