The most surprising of all nominations has to be Sandra Bullock receiving two acting nominations. Best Actress in a drama for her current box office smash The Blindside and Best Actress in a comedy for her summer hit The Proposal. The Blindside has been a huge commerical success so this nomination honestly doesn’t surprise me.

Other nominations which I was happy to see included was the summer comedy hit The Hangover, (500) Days of Summer which was one of my favorite movies of the year, and Cristoph Waltz for Best Supporting Actor for Inglourious Basterds was much deserved.

Some surprises included the exclusion of Clint Eastwood’s Invictus for both best picture and director nominations, and very little attention for Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Lovely Bones. The buzz for Avatar continues to grow with awards for Best Picture and Director for James Cameron.

The Golden Globes are considered a precursor for what to expect come Oscar nomination time. What do you think of this years nominations? Who do you think was snubbed? Who shouldn’t have made the cut? Share with us your thoughts below.
