Idris Elba Joins Cast of Thor

Idris Elba, of RocknRolla and Obsessed, will be joining Kenneth Branagh’s comic adaptation Thor. As Heimdall, he guards the Bifrost Bridge in Asgard and protect Thor’s homeland. This project is beginning to quickly take shape, preparing for photography to begin this January. The cast is looking great, branching off from cardboard cutout Hollywood actors and finding ones with real talent. Read more about Idris below.
Idris Elba is one of those actors who seemed to come out of no where and garnered a huge body of work. I enjoyed his sidekick antics as Mumbles in RocknRolla, and pulled off the British accent well. He had reoccurring roles on television on The Wire and The Office. His next project is Takers with Paul Walker, and later The Losers, based on the DC comic.

He was a major character on 'The Wire' for more than half the series. He was a pretty fantastic actor on the show, though every performance on 'The Wire' is great. This heightens my interest in the project.
i've heard great things about the wire, think i may get into the dvds this winter
