TV News: NBC Developing Comedy about Fanboys
If this isn’t relevant news than I am not sure what is. NBC is reportedly developing a sitcom about a group of sci-fi fanboys who begin filming episodes of their favorite show after it is cancelled. Variety is reporting that the show will be directed by sitcom veteran Larry Charles who is no stranger to hilarious comedy. Charles most recently directed Sacha Baron Cohen in Bruno as well as Borat. His television credits include Seinfeld, Mat About You, and a recurring role on Curb Your Enthusiasm. McG (Terminator Salvation) will produce the show for the network which is calling the show a “prototype pickup.” Continue reading for more on this new show.
So, what exactly is a “prototype pickup?” The network has an idea for what they would like the show to be. They bring in writers, producers, and begin casting for talent to create a show that will hopefully be picked up as a series for the network. The intend on shooting the show for consideration for a full series pickup (which is still confusing, because why else would they shoot the show?) Anyway, no word yet on when this could potentially hit the prime time air.
