Quick Hits: Brian Michael Bendis On Marvel Films

Maybe you’re into comic books and maybe you’re not. I know lots of people who are just into the films. So, when I hear something about a comic book film, even if it’s small, I have to tell you guys. I was reading Wizard Magazine and there is this small Q & A with comic book writer Brain Michael Bendis (House of M, Secret Invasion)  about his involvement in Marvel Comics and The Avengers, and how long he would be with the company. He had some positive things to say about the books, but it was his tidbits about some upcoming Marvel movies that got me excited.

Read what he had to say after the jump.

Wizard Magazine (WM)- How much longer do you see yourself writing Avengers titles?

Brian Michael Bendis (BMB)- Well, I’m under contract for quite a while longer and I’m enjoying it immensely. Just the other day we had the first Avengers creative committee movie meeting, and that was a blast. So my plans are long and forthcoming.

WM- What can you tell us about that movie meeting?

BMB- They put together, like, a brain trust- it’s a dumb word- to go over scripts and notes and talk them through. [ Editor-in-Chief] Joe Quesada’s on it and a few people you wouldn’t know and the producers of the films. And we talk the talk of nerds. We did it on “Iron Man”, “Iron Man 2″ we’re doing it on “Thor” and “Cap” right now and “Avengers” is getting rolling right now.

WM- What’s the Last script you’ve read?

BMB-”Captain America.” It’s a very, very strong frist draft. I mean, first drafts can sometimes be maddening, like, almost hard to read. And this one you went, “Ooh! I would like to see this movie. That one could end up being my favorite.”

It’s not much, but when you’re a fanboy like me you are chomping at the bite for any news that you can get relating to comic book films. This is like a band-aid for my Thor and Captain America movie wound. We will try to keep you posted the best that we can on any other news about these projects. Read more about this article on Brian Michael Bendis in Wizard Magazine #218.
