Boondock Saints 2 to Expand Nationwide
Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, the sequel to the cult classic Boondock Saints, will expand its theater count this weekend as the popularity of the film has created a high demand. The film opened in just four markets this past weekend which included Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. Sony Pictures now plans to expand its run on November 13th to multiple cities which will now include San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and more. The film had a strong opening of $500,000 in just four cities with a per screen average of $8,000.
Fans of the Boondock Saints have demanded the film be shown in the cities they live in, thus prompting the studio to expand the screen count. The first Boondock Saints was released in 1999 and developed a huge following. Director Troy Duffy has returned for the sequel along with stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus.
In Boondock Saints 2 the brothers have been living with their father on a sheep farm deep in isolated Ireland for the last 8 years. One day their uncle tells them that they have been framed for the murder of a Bostonian Catholic priest. The boys must return to Boston to not only clear their names but find the men who framed them.
