Trailer for Gibson’s Edge of Darkness
As much as America loves to watch the high and mighty fall, they love comebacks more. When Mickey Rourke was up for an Oscar for his role in The Wrestler, lots of people were hoping he’d win. Regardless, it might take one big public screw up to damage a star’s career for life, but one role can bring it right back. Mel Gibson may just get that comeback with his new action thriller Edge of Darkness. Watch the trailer below.
When Detective Thomas Craven is nearly killed and watches his daughter die in his arms, he begins to unravel a conspiracy that spans corporations and government cooperation. Gibson has not had a major starring role since his 2006 DUI arrest. Starring next to great actors including Danny Huston, who played Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Ray Winston of The Departed and Beowulf. I think the action looks pretty good in this film, and considering it’s done by Casino Royale’s director Martin Campbell, the caliber of story will match the caliber of gunshots. Edge of Darkness releases January 29, 2010.
