Fox Ready to Reboot Fantastic 4

Yesterday we reported that Bad Boys 3 was in development as well as a fifth Rambo movie. Today we have news that Fox is ready to reboot the Fantastic 4. Back in March we reported that the studio was interested in rebooting the franchise with a new look, new cast, and a darker tone. This was actually one of the few reboots that I am totally on board for. I like these characters and would like to see them in a movie that justifies the $8 ticket and the drive to the movie theater. I didn’t think the first two movies which starred Ioan Gruffudd , Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans were all that bad; they just were a little too cheesy for my taste. If put in the correct hands this could be a pretty cool reboot.

Variety is reporting that Akiva Goldsmen has been hired to produce the reboot with Michael Green hired to write the script. Goldsmen has produces movies like I Am Legend and Hancock, and Green was most recently credited with co-writing The Green Lantern script.

It is not known at this time if any of the original cast members will return, or if they have even been invited to return for a new movie. The first Fantastic 4 was released in 2005 to mixed reviews but box office success. The sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was released in 2007 to horrible reviews and only mediocre box office success.

Lets hope the third time is the charm. What do you think? Good or bad decision on Fox’s part?
