Bad Boys 3 in Development
The action franchise Bad Boys may be adding a third movie to its lineup. Columbia Pictures has reportedly hired screenwriter Peter Craig to pen a third installment about the Miami based police officers played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. There is no word if either actor will return to the roles they first created in 1995 and reprised in 2003. This project is still in the early stages of development according to The Hollywood Reporter. The big name stars were joined by director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer in Bad Boys which grossed $66 million domestically and the entire team returned for Bad Boys 2 which made $138 million in its domestic run.
The appeal is there for a third film even if I don’t think this is a very good idea. I found the first movie to be entertaining. This was before Will Smith became Will Smith. Before Michael Bay made Transf0rmers and Jerry Bruckheimer brought audiences the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The first film was fun. The second film was garbage. I have a feeling the third movie would fall closer to the latter unfortunately.
That is just my opinion. What do you think? Would you want to see a Bad Boys 3?
