Rob Zombie is Remaking The Blob

Here is probably yet another film that director Rob Zombie can add to his resume of some of the worst films ever made. That may be a presumptious statement but given Zombie’s track record I feel confident with that belief. Today the former rocker turned filmmaker released Halloween II, a sequel to his reboot from 2007. Reviews have been anything but positive including Roman’s review on the film. Zombie will now once again return to the director’s chair in a remake of the 1958 horror classic The Blob which starred Steve McQueen. Variety is reporting that the horror movie director will put his spin on the movie. Continue reading to hear what Zombie had to say about this.

“My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing — that’s the first thing I want to change,” Zombie told Variety. “That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now.”

Production on the movie will begin next spring. Here is yet another attempt for Zombie to make more money creating terrible films.

I have not seen The Blob but here is a synopsis for the film:

A meteorite falls in the country of a small town, bringing a jelly creature. An old farmer is attacked by the alien in his hand, and the youths Steve Andrews and his girlfriend Jane Martin take him to Dr. T. Hallen. The local doctor treats carefully the blister, and asks Steve to investigate the location where they found the old man. When Steve returns, he sees the blob killing the doctor. Steve and Jane try to warn the police and the dwellers, but nobody believe on them, while the blob engulfs many people, getting bigger and bigger.
