Nicolas Cage to Play Villain in The Green Hornet?

Last week we reported that Cameron Diaz would be joining Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet. Variety is reporting today that Nicolas Cage is being considered for a role as a gangster villain in the film due in theaters next summer. The Green Hornet has been adapted for the screen by Seth Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg (Superbad.) Michel Gondry is set to direct the film with Rogen playing the title character. This project has seen several delays lately. Most recently was due to Stephen Chow departing from the picture. Chow was cast to play sidekick Kato, but dropped out at the last minute. According to the studio everything is on schedule and The Green Hornet will be released on July 9th, 2010. Columbia Pictures has just begun talking with Nic Cage about taking a role in this film, so hopefully we will have more confirmed news soon.
