Will There Really Be Another Mortal Kombat Movie?

Before I report anything I just want to say this is another terrible choice to reboot. Mortal Kombat was a popular video game back in the 90′s, the first movie was enjoyable enough for fans, but the second movie was garbage (from what I hear at least, I have no interest in watching it), so why is a third movie necessary? Moviehole.net recently spoke with director Mink (yeah, that’s his name) about this project and he had the following to say:

The status of the film, as of today, is that “…the Producers are working out their deals with the studio and arranging their financing”, says Mink. The director went on to say that this is not really a sequel but more of a re-imagining (that is what most of them say when they want to distance themselves from the previous film).

Todays audience is a savvy involved group so the film must be A plus plus in every area in order to capture the magic of the first film. It is taking the entire concept to the next level across the board in every area visual design, story, cast, FX, photography and most importantly the fighting scenes. The original Mortal Kombat game was born a child of many visual loves by the creators at midway so this latest version borrows heavily from that pioneering spirit and must be thought out and executed at the highest level in order for it succeed in today’s market place. This is no overnight task.”

Apparently they are looking into casting the film and there is no news yet if anyone from the previous films will be returning for a third movie. What do you think about a third Mortal Kombat movie? Comment below.
