Cover Of The Week: BTVS- Tales of the Vampires

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BTVS) covers continue to impress me. Jo Chen has been in our COW column before, but this time his art appeared slightly different to me. In the past his covers have looked very realistic and even though this one is good it has a very anime like feel that other covers have not.

This is such a weird cover. I am not sure what the pomegranate has to do with it, but the visual is great. This guy is seemingly willing to be fed on. In the show fans learned of people who felt a sort of “High” from being fed on. Vampires loved it because they could bleed someone,  leave them alive so that there were no bodies, and then meet up with this person again. I have not read this particular issue just yet, but that is what it looks like to me. I am not usually a fan of this style of art, however, this piece really jumps out at me.
