Ryan Reynolds Says Deadpool Movie Will Be Just Like the Comics

Many fans of Wolverine were disappointed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine because of how the movie neglected to follow anything put in place in the comic books. The origin of Wolverine was told in  a manner that did not give moviegoers the experience they were hoping for. The movie was a disjointed mess and one of the big complaints of the film was how the character of Deadpool was not accurate to the comic books. We reported last month that a Deadpool movie was confirmed and that Ryan Reynolds would reprise his role which gave him very little screen time in Wolverine. Reynolds recently spoke to IGN where he told them that his Deadpool film would be more accurate to the comic books.

“It’s going to be just like the comic books. I’m gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that’s the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible.” This should excite fans of the character who looked forward to seeing more than they got in Wolverine. The merc with a mouth is a favorite in the Marvel universe and a movie of his own makes sense. One question which arose after hearing about this film is, who would be a villain in the movie? Reynolds responded to this by saying, “The greatest villain in a Deadpool comic is Deadpool, there’s a lot you can do there, but you’ve gotta ask, ‘Who’s the boss? Who’s the guy he’s going up against?’ But it’s breaking the fourth wall; it’s including all those things in a way that works, but it’s not nearly as hard as it sounds. It can really be done.”

What do you think about the Deadpool spin-off film? Will this be another Wolverine, or can the character of Deadpool be a successful franchise of its own? How about the question of a villain for this film? What would you like to see? Leave your comments below.
