Lara Croft Tomb Raider to be Re-Booted with Origin Story

It has been a rumor for months now that the popular video game Tomb Raider would be coming back to the big screen. Angelina Jolie originally played the sexy adventurer Lara Croft in two movies which never really lived up to the hype of the game. In other words, the movies were not very good. About.com recently spoke with producer Dan Lin who confirmed the re-boot. He stated the movie will be “very character orientated.” He wants the film to be an origin story and to have a more realistic tone. The big question is who will play Lara Croft? If they are doing an origin story they are obviously planning on starting from scratch so that would mean no Angelina Jolie.

I doubt Jolie would want to take on the role again, which would be a wise decision since the first two films didn’t do anything for her career. There has been buzz that Megan Fox could fill the, um, we will say shoes, of the buxom Lara Croft, for a new film. I think Fox could play the character, but lets just get a good script. Maybe I am being a  little rough on the first two films, but let’s be honest – they sucked.

What do you think of a Tomb Raider re-boot. Is this just yet another unnecessary re-boot? Yesterday we reported that we would see another Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.
