In 1995 moviegoers were treated to a gang of lovable toys led by Woody the cowboy and Buzz Lightyear the astronaut in Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story. These toys were created by an animation studio called Pixar. Teaming with Disney, Pixar started down a path of extraordinary film making bringing us gems like Monsters, Inc, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, and their newest release titled Up. So after an illustrious track record which has brought fans the best animation out there, Pixar is bringing Toy Story back for a third go around, and the whole crew is back! Toy Story 3 is slated for a June 18, 2010 release; and this weekend fans were greeted to a teaser trailer when they saw Pixar’s 10th movie Up. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Nicolas Cage won an Academy Award in 1995 for Leaving Las Vegas. Now, in 2009 he stars in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Not only is that a horrible title, but the trailer is bad, the cast is wasted, and this looks like a complete disaster of a film. Before I continue trashing this movie, let me say, I really like Nicolas Cage. I enjoyed Knowing. I think the National Treasure movies are good. The Rock, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Face/Off are all great Nic Cage movies. But this is where I draw the line. In Bad Lieutenant Cage plays a drug addicted police officer who is loosing his mind. Check out the trailer and leave us some feedback.
It has been a rumor for months now that the popular video game Tomb Raider would be coming back to the big screen. Angelina Jolie originally played the sexy adventurer Lara Croft in two movies which never really lived up to the hype of the game. In other words, the movies were not very good. About.com recently spoke with producer Dan Lin who confirmed the re-boot. He stated the movie will be “very character orientated.” He wants the film to be an origin story and to have a more realistic tone. The big question is who will play Lara Croft? If they are doing an origin story they are obviously planning on starting from scratch so that would mean no Angelina Jolie.
A new international poster has debuted for G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra which hits theaters this August. The poster isn’t anything special, but it does its job promoting the movie. I am not very hyped for this film, so it has been difficult for me to say anything very positive about it. However, I do like this poster more than the first set which was released featuring the different characters. Those posters were generic but this has some more appeal to it. I like the separation between good and evil as this is what G.I Joe really represents. Check out the latest poster for G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra.
USA Today has published five new photos from the new film The Book of Eli. The movie stars Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman in sci-fi drama that revolves around a lone warrior (Washington) who must fight to bring society the knowledge that could be the key to its redemption. The film doesn’t hit theaters until January 2010, but we have a first look at some great photos from the film.
OH MY GOD! FANBOY SACRILEGE IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN! Apparently, somebody thinks that it’s a good idea to re-boot Buffy the Vampire Slayer without the brains to do it right. BTVS creator, Joss Whedon, will most likely not have a part in the possible re-imagining of his cult favorite character. Somewhere along the way Fran Rubel Kuzui obtained the rights to the character and can do as she wishes with the franchise. Kuzui was the director of that first piece of crap movie made in the 90’s and was later a producer on the series. True, Whedon wrote the original script, but who knows how much influence Kuzui had in making it crap. On top of that they wont even be using Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy. They are thinking of making new supporting characters too! Read more complaining after the jump.
We have been reporting for some time now about the production of a Green Lantern movie. There has been casting news, budget news, shooting location news, release date news, yet the movie still has yet to begin production. To offset these long standing delays, a youtube user by the name of JaronPitts has created this amazing trailer of his interpretation for a Green Lantern movie. The numerous clips from other movies is impressive, and having Serenity star, Nathan Fillion filling in as Hal Jordan seems like a good fit. This is one of the better fan made trailers I have seen in a while. I recommend you check it out and see if you can spot the movie clips he is using for this trailer.
What would happen if Terminator and Transformers were to become one? IGN has the answer in this clever trailer for what they are calling Transforminators. It’s Christian Bale’s Terminator Salvation trailer edited together with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Also in the mix are scenes from the other Terminator movies, a sound clip of Bale’s infamous meltdown, and a quick shot of Bale from American Psycho. The trailer is not as much funny as it is clever and well put together. It actually makes me think this could be a movie. Check it out after the jump.
For those horror fans out there who enjoyed Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, we have good news for you. Zombie is back and directing a sequel titled H2. We have shown you the trailer, the poster, and a first look photo of Michael Myers. Now we have a video clip from the movie due in theaters this August. The clip, as well as the first trailer, have me very underwhelmed for this film. Zombie’s 2007 reboot was mediocre at best, and I can honestly say I am not a fan of his work. However, I know he has a following, so this is for you. Check it out.
With two big box office competitors this weekend only one could come out on top. In one corner was Ben Stiller who was returning with his family friendly sequel to 2006’s Night at the Museum. In the other corner was Christian Bale, who coming off a stint of bad press, is leading the Terminator reboot, Terminator Salvation. Both films were highly buzzed about. Both actors have big followings. But you have to leave it to the kids to dominate the weekend box office. Especially when it is a holiday weekend, families were hitting their local multiplex, and while some were checking out Terminator, most were waiting in line for Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
A beautiful rendition of the World’s Finest is in the this weeks COW column. The comic book has not been very good lately, but I can not bring myself to drop the title. Superman and Batman are such a staple in the realm of comic books that it would seem disrespectful to quit buying any book that they are in. I know, it sounds a little messed up. However, I am a sucker for good art work and I will keep getting the series if covers like this keep coming out. See this weeks COW after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
Quentin Tarantino’s newest film, Inglourious Basterds, premiered last week at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was met with mixed reviews, but the interesting story that is coming this way from France, is that Tarantino is supposedly going back to cut the film even further. Variety is reporting that the director will be going back to the editing room to cut some of the film and apparently add a new scene as well. It has not been reported why Tarantino intends on changing the movie or if his changes are in response to any criticism. The film currently stands at two hours and twenty-seven minutes and it is unclear if running time is a reason for the return to the editing room. The Brad Pitt led film hits theaters August 21st.
This holiday weekend there is something for everyone to see. The adults will be flocking to the fourth installment in the Terminator franchise. The kids will be hitting up Ben Stiller’s sequel to Night at the Museum, and the teenagers may check out the Wayans’ Brothers comedy Dance Flick. Obviously the competition this weekend is between Bale and Stiller who are competing with Terminator and Museum respectively. Terminator Salvation hit theaters a day early with a Thursday release and hit the gates running. Midnight showings on Wednesday grossed a strong $3 million and with yesterdays opening its’ total stands at an impressive $13.3 million. How will the rest of the box office play out? Continue reading to check out our predictions.
Writer and director M. Night Shyamalan is back on the scene after last years disappointing thriller The Happening. The director who is best known for The Sixth Sense and Signs is working on a new film set to be released next summer. The film titled, The Last Airbender, is about the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations. Sounds like a weird story but I would expect nothing less from the guy who brought us Lady in the Water and Unbreakable. Shyamalan is a skilled storyteller so I look forward to his next cinematic adventure. USA Today has published two new photos from the movie featuring Noah Ringer and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire.) Check out the photos after the jump.
I have always loved the Terminator movies. I even enjoyed Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, a movie most fans consider to be the weakest installment. I went into Terminator Salvation with both excitement and nervous anticipation. It succeeds as a Terminator movie, but comes up a bit short as a film in general. In the not-too-distant future, Skynet will launch a worldwide, nuclear attack against the human race. John Connor, the leader of the human resistance, lived with this knowledge growing up. However, it seems to John that the future is different than he was told. As humanity is pushed farther towards extinction, it seems their fate may lie with one person, Marcus Wright.
Last month we debuted the first trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen’s newest comedy Bruno. Unfortunately it was a red band trailer which meant it was definitely NSFW ( Not Suitable for Work.) Well, today we have the first green band trailer courtesy of MTV, which means it is suitable for work, and you can catch it this weekend in front of Terminator Salvation. This should be one of the big comedy hits of the summer. Cohen is infamous for making controversy and when Bruno drops on July 10th – it is sure to be the one thing everyone is talking about. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think.
