Ridley Scott May Be On Board For New Alien Movies?

According to IESB there may be some interest in reviving the Aliens movie franchise. With last week’s announcement that the Predator series will see a revival from producer Robert Rodriguez, now it seems that Alien director Ridley Scott has interests of his own.

Fox Co- Chairman Tom Rothman had this to say when asked about the possibility of a new Alien movie:”There’s been some talk…  Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he’s toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it’s always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I’ve got my fingers crossed, all of them.” Do the fans want another Alien movie? I think so.

All over the web people seem to be generally excited about the idea. I really enjoyed the first film, but I think that the series hit perfection with the sequel Aliens. I hope that I do not get crucified for this, but I’d be more excited if I heard that James Cameron was interested in the reboot. We definitely need to separate these awesome sci-fi horror classics and have them back in their own movies. For some reason, no one could write a good script for the AvP franchise and it was kind of hurting the overall effect for the creatures.

Either way it goes, I would be interested in seeing both franchises getting a fresh start. Scott’s Alien made us afraid of the dark. I want to remember what thats like in a horror film.
