Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley has landed the infamous role of Freddy Krueger in New Line Cinema’s reboot of The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. New Line plans to have the film in theaters on April 16, 2010. Haley recently played the character Rorschach in Warner Brother’s comic book adaptation Watchmen. The studio believed Haley had the chops to play one of the most famous villains on screen. The role was originally made famous by Robert Englund, and now Haley has his chance to bring this character back to the big screen. With the success of the Friday the 13th reboot, New LIne is hoping they can have the same success with Nightmare on Elm Street. The film starts shooting this May in October.
