Transformers fans, your time has come. Although trailers can be deceptively edited and misleading, this new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen trailer is stunning to say the least. If the trailer is any indication of what we’re in store for on June 24th, this summer will truly be epic. The trailer gives much more insight into the story line for the movie. Sam is moving on to college, and not long after arriving, a piece of the cube begins to affect his mind. With the return of Megatron and more Decepticons, humanity finds itself in the cross-hair of a war. Continue reading to check out this new trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!
This Memorial Day weekend, Ben Stiller’s sequel, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian will be released. The movie is the follow up to his box office hit from 2006. This movie will most likely be another huge success for Stiller, who is joined in the sequel by Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, and Hank Azaria. Today we have a new full length trailer to bring you. It expands on the first trailer with just some more museum hijinks, and while the adults may not find this all that funny, your kids will eat this up. Ben Stiller does slap-stick comedy better than most, and while I am not all that interested in seeing the movie, hopefully you will enjoy the trailer.
With the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine tomorrow, the beginning of summer movies has finally arrived. From this weekend until about the middle of summer moviegoers will be given week after week of blockbuster films featuring big stars, special effects, and huge budgets. Movie studios know that these movies they release during this period are what make them their money. Look at last year for example. The Dark Knight was released in July and is now the second highest grossing movie of all time, second only to Titanic. The last several months have seen some big box office numbers. Monsters VS. Aliens and Fast and Furious opened with over $50 million on opening weekend. Those are big numbers for the spring time, but they are nothing compared to what we are about to experience. Continue reading for our box office prediction for X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, is interested in bringing back the Spawn character for another big screen movie. This week has seen several older franchises being re-booted, and here is another movie to add to the list. During a premiere for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, IESB spoke with McFarlane who told them he has five offers on the table to do another Spawn movie. These offers range from big budget studios to a smaller independent take on the movie which would give McFarlane more control over his project. The original Spawn movie debuted in August of 1997. The film was an adaptation of McFarlane’s comic book and was directed by Mark Dippe.

Looks like another comic book movie is on the horizon. According to The Hollywood Reporter producers John Wells and Don Murphy are looking to adapt the indie comic book The Forgotten into a big screen movie. The comic centers on a man who, no matter what he does or whom he meets, is forgotten five minutes later. While it gives him great power and leeway as far as investigations and problem-solving, it leaves him incredibly alone. When the son of a long-lost friend is charged wrongly with murder, he uses his powers to get to the bottom of a conspiracy. Sounds like an interesting story line. Definitley a different approach to the genre than your typical costumed super hero movie.

Variety is reporting that Michael Douglass will reprise his role which one him an Academy Award for Best Actor. The casting of Shia LeBeouf is yet to be confirmed, however the actor is currently in negotations to join the project.

On the season finale of Heroes…Sylar sets out his master plan. Nathan and Peter try to stop him. HRG is apprehended while Claire goes to back up Nathan. Meanwhile, Ando and Hiro try to take down Building 26. Well, the season finale was upon us last night. I, like many of you, had a sort of reserved anticipation for the event. For me, that enjoyment pretty much ended last night. Read the rest of this entry »

In anticipation of this movie, which just happens to be the official kick off for summer, we will bring you five days of Wolverine related articles. Today we begin this series with a look at Marvel’s celebration of Wolverines 35th anniversary. We reported earlier this month that Gore Verbinksi would not be directing a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Instead, his next project would be a film adaptation of the video game Bioshock. This weekend Universal temporarily halted the movie due to concerns over an escalating budget which put the film’s production costs at around $160 million. The studio had to let some staff on the movie go, and now director Gore Verbinski is searching for a less expensive place to film. Variety is reporting that Verbinski and his crew are determined to make the film, based on the popular video game, and are currently looking at London as a place to shoot. Bioshock takes place in the underwater city Rapture, where a pilot crash-lands near a secret entrance and becomes involved in a power struggle. Universal acquired Bioshock in a very expensive, multi million dollar deal, so this film shouldn’t be put on hold for too long.
The weekend before summer is typically one of the slower weekend of the year for movie theaters. Most studio release their films which they have had shelved for some time in a last ditch effort to release them before the summer movies hit. This weekend saw four new wide releases which included Beyonce’s thriller Obsessed, Robert Downey, Jr’s The Soloist, Channing Tatum’s Fighting, and the Disney documentary Earth. With X-Men Origins: Wolverine arriving in theaters next weekend, these movies really have one week to show what they got. Only one of the films performed well; and actually it performed far above expectations. That movie is Obsessed which made $28.5 million over the three day weekend. That number is far above expectations, especially for a movie which is scoring only 30% on Rotten Tomatoes.
This weeks Cover of the Week (COW) choices are some what unique. One shows a mythic god enjoying a bit of the modern era. The other, a dark prison holding an even darker inmate. Enjoy a look at the light hearted, and a dark place in this weeks cover choices. Click to continue reading Read the rest of this entry »
The first poster for Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno has arrived. The poster is everything you would expect from the offensive comedian who has taken another hilarious character and brought him to the big screen. Bruno is the follow up to Cohen’s comedy hit Borat which hit theaters in 2006 and grossed over $150 million domestically. This poster is quick to point out that “Borat was so 2006.” This movie will most likely put Borat to shame as it takes offensive comedy to a whole new level. The poster is pretty much what I was expecting. It’s not great, but it sums up the character of Bruno pretty well. Check it out and tell us what you think.
Yesterday we reported that director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) would be re-booting the 80’s action franchise Predator. Today we have the official release date for the movie but we have news that Robert Rodriguez will not be directing the movie. Today 20th Century Fox via coming soon officially announced a release date for the film. We can catch Predators in theaters on July 7, 2010. Fox is calling this re-boot ” a bold new chapter in the Predator universe.” This release date comes very soon, seeing as how it was just yesterday that Rodriguez officially announced he will make the movie. We reported that Rodriguez would be directing the film, but he is now set to only produce the film. There is no confirmation as to who will direct the movie at this time. When we hear more details on this project we will bring them to you. Until then, mark you calendars for next summer for Predators!
Rob Zombie’s venture into directing has not been very lucrative. To be blunt: his movies suck. So, it is only fitting that this new trailer for the sequel to Zombie’s 2007 Halloween remake looks pretty bad. His remake of Halloween wasn’t that great, however it was a million times better than any of his previous work. His sequel to Halloween is titled H2 and appears to pick up where the last one left off. This trailer doesn’t really impress me, but I am not a Rob Zombie fan, nor have I ever really got into the Halloween franchise. But for those of you who like a gory slasher film. This may be the perfect fit for you. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think.
