We recentley announced that the Green Lantern movie would be released December 17, 2010. Now we can report that filming for the comic book adaptation will begin this fall in order to meet that winter 2010 release date. The film is being directed by Martin Cambell and is set to begin filming in Austrailia this September. Interestingly enought, the film has a director, but is yet to cast it’s lead character – or any character for that matter. The “Green Lantern” was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan introduced in 1959, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur’s spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was “utterly honest and born without fear.

He’s not a super popular comic hero, so I’m interested in how the movies turns out.
