Sorry Drew Barrymore, you will not be directing the third Twilight film, Eclipse. Instead, Spanish director Jaun Antonio Bayone will be filling the shoes as director for the third installment in the popular vampire series. Bayone is not very well known, however he is very close with director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hell Boy). Bayone directed the Spanish horror movie, The Orphanage, which del Toro produced. Bayone is also attached to direct the thriller Hater for Universal. To find out more about Juan Antonio Bayona check out his profile over at IMDB.
The role of director for the Twilight films has been a popular topic the last few weeks. Bayone will be the third director in as many films to takeover for the series. Catherine Hardwicke directed the first Twilight which was released this past November. Chris Weitz will be directing the second film, New Moon, which is scheduled November of this year, and now Juan Antonio Bayone will be directing the third film for a summer 2010 release.
What do you think about all the changes in direction? Will this keep the series fresh or will there be too many significant changes since each director will have their own style?
