This is not an April fool’s joke. A full length version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has surfaced online. Mostly available on the torrent sites, the movie is supposedly a full length copy of the film that is of high quality and does not have a water mark. This is really bad news for Fox. Wolverine is not due out for another month and having this movie available online is not good business. This will be the first big blockbuster of summer and Fox needs to keep viewers from catching an early screening on their own. All I can say is that someone over at Fox is about to join the unemployment line.

Disney announced today at Showest that the upcoming re-release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, in 3D, will be done as a double feature. The features will be released October 2, 2009 and are scheduled to only be a limited two week engagement. If this re-release is successful, which I would assume it would be, it would make sense for Disney to expand that two week run. Originally Toy Story 3D was scheudled to be released in October with Toy Story 2 3D scheduled for the following February. We have also learned that the double feature will be your first oppurtunity to see the trailer for Toy Story 3! The third movie is slated to drop June 18, 2010.

We announced recently that Spider-Man 4 would see a May 6, 2011 release date. Today we have confirmed that director Sam Raimi will have a script ready this summer. Raimi told Sci-Fi Wire, “We have to make the release date, and on all of these pictures, the ‘Spider-Man’ films–and I’m sure it’s the same as with many of the other bigger-budgeted films–they have release dates far in advance of a screenplay,” he said. “So it’s about getting it ready the best you can in time for the first day of production. That’s what we’ve always done, and that’s what we’ll try to do again.” Raimi was also interviewed by Empire magazine, where he discussed his creative control over the super hero project.

Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures is already looking into a sequel for Star Trek. The J.J Abrams sci-fi epic doesn’t even hit theaters until May 8th, but the studio is interested in continuing the franchise once again. J.J Abrams is on board to produce, however it is unconfirmed if he will return to the director’s chair. Writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof have been hired to pen the screenplay as well as receive producing credits. So what will the sequel be about? Kurtzman states that, “We discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month,” he said. “With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We’ll be ambitious about what we’ll do.” Is Paramount being rather presumptuous by gearing up for a sequel to a movie that has not been released yet? Leave your thoughts on the next page!

It was bad when Columbia Pictures announced they would be remaking The Karate Kid. It was terrible when they announced that Will Smith’s son, Jaden, would be playing the title character. It didn’t get any better when Jackie Chan signed on to play the Mr. Miyagi role. Now, I am sorry to report, we have even more disappointing news to report. As if Columbia hadn’t destroyed the sanctity of this 80’s classic movie, they have now decided to rename the film! The Karate Kid will now be titled Kung Fu Kid? Alex at Firstshowing broke this news earlier today and the net has been buzzing with disgust from fans of the original, the only, Karate Kid. So what do you think? Does anyone care about The Karate Kid anymore? Is this a terrible idea? Has Hollywood finally pushed the limit on remakes? Leave your comments on the next page.

Director David Cronenberg is looking into directing a sequel to his 2007 film Eastern Promises. The film starred Viggo Mortensen as a Russian gangster named Nikolai. Mortensen’s performance was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar. Cronenberg tells MTV that, “We are moving forward with it,” and that, “We are all excited about doing a sequel.” Eastern Promises is about a Russian teenager living in London who dies during childbirth and leaves clues to a midwife in her journal that could tie her child to a rape involving a violent Russian mob family. Sascha Baron Cohen is not afraid of a little controversy. His 2006 hit comedy Borat was no stranger to the spectacle of obsecity and bad taste. For those of you who may have missed this movie, there is a ten minute scence which involves Cohen and his co-star wrestling together…naked. This movie managed to secure an R rating, yet it is being reported that Cohen’s latest project, Bruno has been slapped with a NC-17 rating. This, of course, was the films first run through with the MPAA, and will now edit it’s adult content in order to receive a much needed R rating. So what is the reason for a NC-17 rating? What could be worse than two grown men wrestling naked? Continue reading to see what gave the film this rating.

The 2009 box office is looking up once again. If all numbers are accurate, Dreamworks animated film, Monsters VS. Aliens is the years biggest opening to date, grossing an estimated $58 million over the weekend. This is a great debut for the movie which is only slightly behind Dreamworks last success, KungFu Panda , which made $60 million it it’s opening weekend last summer. If these numbers hold up come tomorrow, then Monsters VS. Aliens has the biggest opening weekend so far in 2009. Watchmen, held the record for a short amount of time, when it was released earlier this month with $55 million on opening weekend. Continue reading for a full recap of this weekends box office.

Martin Scorsese is following up his 2007 Oscar winning film, The Departed, with Shutter Island starring Leonardo Dicaprio (Who else would it be, really?) This film is not due in theaters until October but RopeofSilicon has debuted the first teaser poster. I am a huge Martin Scorsese fan. Goodfellas, The Departed, and Raging Bull, are all amazing films and I have no doubt he will continue this with Shutter Island. The story revolves around two US Marshals (DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo) who travel to a Massachusetts island to investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane. Chaos ensues for the two as they encounter a web of deceit, a hurricane and a deadly inmate riot that leaves them trapped on the island. Sounds like an intense plot. Check out the poster on the next page.

Ron Howard’s new film, Angels & Demons has a new TV spot which has been released by Columbia Pictures. The Tom Hanks movie doesn’t arrives in theaters on May 15th, but the advertising for this film has really picked up over the last few weeks. This past week we published an impressive new poster for the film, which is a prequel to Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code which was a box office hit in 2006. This TV spot is another great look at this highly anticipated film. I was not a big fan of The Da Vinci Code, but this movie looks much better. Variety is reporting that Marvel Entertainment is currently hiring new writers to pen scripts for various projects for the future. The new writers will consist of those from the outside, as well as those who currently write for Marvel’s comic books. This will give Marvel the oppurtunity to focus on projects that they would like to make into movies down the road. Currently the studio is working on film projects for Thor, Captain America, and of course Iron Man 2. With more writers they can work on scripts for characters such as Black Panther, Cable, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk and Vision. This sounds like a great way to move forward on new and unique projects. What do you think about Marvel moving forward on movies for these characters? Leave your comments on the next page!

Dreamworks’ latest animated venture, Monsters VS. Aliens, looks fun, sounds fun, and at times is a lot of fun. Its like an amusement park ride. Its fun to ride for a little while but eventually you want to get off and experience something different. MVA (Monsters VS Aliens) is all novelty. It would make a great Saturday morning cartoon, but with a world of animated features like Wall-E, this movie pales in comparison. It is an entertaining flick for the kids but after the first hour is over, those over the age of 12 will realize this is all fluff. There is no clear story – but MVA doesn’t really need one. It’s a gimmick movie. One where flashy animation, goofy characters, and of course, 3D glasses, distracts you from the obvious fact that this movie isn’t very good. Its not a bad movie. It just doesn’t appeal to a wide audience like Pixar’s movies do.
