X-men Origins: Wolverine Poster Versus X3 Poster

By Roman Chavez

When we got the teaser poster for X-men Origins: Wolverine (XOW) I admit that I was just so excited to see something for the film. I mean, great picture of Hugh Jackman behind his clutched fist with claws fiercely popped. What a cool image? Right? Staring in awe at it I began to recall a similar image. When I got home I looked right at my X3 poster and saw pretty much the exact same thing minus Hugh Jackman’s ruggedly handsome face. (Hey, People Magazine named him Sexiest Man Alive in 2008). I am an avid comic book movie poster fan, so at first I was blind to the fact that Hollywood seems to be running out of ways to market the character.

Wolverines’ best features are his claws, but we already know that he has them.  I would really like to see some character posters for the final one sheet if possible. The whole X-men series of posters were essentially the same and they really could have done something cool with this one, especially since they have such a broad cast of characters. Or even a Weapon X team photo. I have seen images for the team, but I am not sure if that is for magazine purposes or what. I guess there are worse ways to portray such an icon. It could have been black and just said Wolverine.

It is just the teaser poster and I’m sure there will be at least one final poster. I do like it, but seeing the X3 poster next to it on my wall just cheapens it a bit. It does flow with my poster wall though… Maybe that was the intent. It wasn’t lazy, it was for the people. Some Fox exec was like “For poster collectors everywhere, we must stick to the overall theme of the trilogy posters”… Yeaaaah, that’s it. Well, I convinced myself.

What do you think of the poster? Any cool ideas for final one sheets? Let us know.

Just for kicks I made what I think the X-men Origins: Wolverine 2 poster will look like. Enjoy!
